It was the 21st of December. The day everyone left for winter holidays. For those who were staying it meant two weeks of freedom in the castle. For those who were leaving to go home it was going to be a full two weeks of family and traditions.

The muggleborns would live a magicless two weeks. Do chores by hand, walk along the street to each door cold, and wait for a meal to be cooked every night.

For half bloods it was a mix of magic and muggle traditions. Maybe it was walking down a cold street or it was levitating bulbs to the higher parts of the christmas tree.

And lastly for purebloods it was filled with stuffy dinners, aparting to different houses, and lots of training.

Most pureblood families and some half blood were invited to the Black family christmas ball. It was held at Black manor. The hosts were the remaining Black children, Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa, Sirius, and Regulus. They didn't all get along very well, but it was tradition.

The woman dressed in ball gowns and men in suits. The colors would vary from black, navy blue, dark purple, and jade green. Even though Christmas colors were red and green most purebloods were Slyhterins and red was an enemy color therefore it was no longer worn.

Once Annie and Cordelia got to Black manor they were greeted by Sirius and Marlene. Sirius and Marlene were extremely nice to Annie and welcomed her with open arms. It felt like she had a family for once in a long time. She was happy.

That night at dinner they were told that Cordelia and Annie were going to go to brunch with The Black family woman plus Lily Potter since they all considered her as family. Then after brunch they were going to a gown shop to get fitted for dresses for the ball.

"So Cordelia tell me about your relationship with Harry."

It was after dinner and Annie and Cordelia were sitting in Cordelia's massive bedroom with two large beds sitting in it. One was Annie's temporary bed and Cordelia's actual bed.

"Well we're in a rocky point right now. Harry doesn't understand that I like him and only him."

"He's just really protective over you Delia."

"I don't know Annie, I just really fancy him but I don't know how to convey that all the time. And I don't need saving right now or anytime really."

"That's ok. I think that he loves you and is afraid of losing you." Annie says with a knowing smirk because she knows that Cordelia and Harry haven't said that they love each other yet.

"We haven't said we love each other yet Annie! Plus doesn't he know I'm afraid of losing him too! When I took the risk of telling him I fancied him it should have meant that I didn't want to lose him either."

"Well maybe just take it easy on him." she said with a soft smile. "What are you getting him for Christmas?"

"I don't know what to get him. Maybe some stuff for his broomstick?"

"Wait I know it! Why don't you get him one of those thick silver rings and tell him that it's a promise that you want him and only him."

"That's kind of like a promise ring. We're only fifteen, it's too early to be giving those right?"

"I mean maybe but if that lets him have the confidence he needs in your relationship it's the smart idea. You also don't have to tell him it necessarily a promise ring to promise you'll be together but a promise that you will stay with him until you feel its time to move on or stay with him forever, who knows?"
