I made tiny steps as I approached the great entrance door. Mark walked ahead of me. The steps already had thin cracks which gave out a vintage effect from afar. The great entrance door was, I think, made of oak wood. Floral carvings covered the facade of the door. And it seemed to glitter like, like thousands of glitter glue were stuck on it.

Mark didn't look back as he pressed the door handle and pushed the door open. He had a certain sterness on his face. He looked sideways at me and saw me staring at him.

He gave me a reserved smirk. I tried to take in something in my mouth but all I found was my saliva. It went straight down my already dry throat. I forced myself to smile back but my lips wouldn't really stretch.

He walked straight ahead. As he made his steps, the hallway greeted him by awakening the leaf-like sidelights.

*Wow.

I thought the house looked creepy, very creepy indeed, like it's hiding something.

Mark stopped at what seemed to be a circular room with a mosaic of a great compass on the floor and walls full of ancient books. I saw the back of a man standing, staring at the view from the one and only window of that circular room.

"Dad," Mark said. His voice sounded like he was talking to his own boss.

The man was stirred at his son's voice and he turned around to face us. His eyes landed on my face. He was smiling, or smirking, like Mark.

"Well, well, what do we have here?"

I realized that he was actually looking at my breasts, which had the size of a pan de sal, unfortunately.

"She's not applying for the Other position, Dad. She's applying for All Around Assistant." Mark's eyebrow was raised so high that I can see the fullness of his eyeball.

"Oh, I see." His Dad smiled again. He had a perfect long nose and had Mark's eyes. His lips were chiseled like that of a Ken doll, Barbie's partner.

"She can start tomorrow," Mark announced.

*Seriously, Mark? You're not the big man here.

"Yes. Why not?" His Dad placed one hand in his pant pocket.

"I'm Jenine Mendoza, Sir." I extended my arm and asked for a handshake from the boss.

He took my hand and shook it. But he was still looking at me and I kinda found it a bit malicious already, not intimidating though.

"John. John Rodriguez," he said and bowed down to kiss my hand.

I nodded and faked a smile to him.
