Duke Callum De Moreau arrived back at his home, he went straight to the stables and asked if there was anymore news, his butler, Charles was out there talking to the staff when he arrived, and on seeing him arriving had turned straight toward the Duke and said, "I'm sorry to tell you that the horrible being of a man has invaded our space and is at this moment looking everywhere for her lady, but the girls have hidden her in your quarters sir, you had better go in the back way that way he cannot see you, but please hurry he might already be there,"
The duke raced off as fast as he could taking the youngest stable boy, Jerimiah with him, "Can you run fast he whispered to the boy, "Yes sir I can'" "Then please go and get the doctor for us and bring him here, we cannot afford to use the carriage as they will hear us, so please hurry as fast as you can.' " I will my lord ", and off he took as fast as he could. Jerimiah had just left the mansion when he ran head long into a group of people coming his way on horses and a carriage as well, he stopped running and took note of who it was and upon realising that it was the duke's friend Anthony, he waved for them to stop, upon telling them all what was going on, he realised that the doctor was there as well, "May I ride with you sir, I need to talk to you," Anthony raised his hands and upon everyone seeing him, he said in a loud voice. "We will all ride in through the back of the stables that way we won't be seen, and once dismounted, please wait until I tell you of our plan, and I thank you for your help."
Callum had headed toward the kitchen, and was just about to open the door, when he heard the voice of the man he was after, he stopped and listened , also putting his hand up to stop those who were with him, he asked one of the stableboys to run around the side and tell those who were in the front of the house that Mr Aspen was in the kitchen and that the Duke is listening to hear what he has to say before entering the kitchen, he said he's not sure who is also in there, so please head toward the kitchen and wait until the door is opened by him. "You will tell me where that whore is, or the next thing I will do is shoot your friend here, so it's her or her ladyship," " Please do not do that Mr. Aspen, you cannot kill us all, and Daphne is only a worker like us, why would you want to chase her," said the friendly cook with tears in her eyes, "Why are you threatening my girls, let them go and I will stay, you don't want us all, please sir, let them go." he walked over to the elderly cook and said, "Who the hell do you think you are to try and bargain with me, you stupid woman," and he hit her with the butt of the gun, Mrs. Watson fell down with blood streaming down her face, as she fell she fell down near Jenny, and asked her how she was, but as she fell she could feel a cool breeze coming from the door, and as she turned slowly she saw the Duke and his boys opening the door slowly, so she stood up again and tried moving over to the stove, Mr. Aspen turned to see what she was doing and the next thing there was an almighty crash from both doors of the kitchen, the girls screamed all at once and then there was aloud bang of a gun, all in the kitchen suddenly stopped what they were doing and turned to see what had happened.
The Duke had a hold of the most hated person in the room, there was blood over both of the men, so what had happened, the local constabulary and a few of the stable boys had come into the kitchen, they made their way over to the Duke, 'We will take him off your hands sir, and the magistrate should be here in the morning," the duke asked that he be placed down in his dungeon that had been apart of his house for years, it would be the darkest, scariest place for anyone to stay, as it was dark, musty and the wind made all sorts of weird noises as it whistled its way through all of the cells, that belonged to this house, it was a huge mansion in it's day, lots of attics, and rooms that had been closed off for centuries. a small group of men marched with Aspen his hands cuffed and his feet bound together, he was having trouble walking like that, but he was pushed along and he was looking around as if trying to keep things in his mind, just ahead he saw with the shine from the only lantern that they had he saw a thick iron cage that a guard was opening the door, he started to faulter in his movements, and started to whimper, "Please please, don't leave me there," but he was pushed into the cage and the door was slammed shut, he screamed "You cannot leave me here, it's insane, please." He hadn't seen the Duke standing there watching him, he slowly walked up to the cage and in the light, Mr. Aspen could see that he had a knife in his hand and he was heading toward where he was standing.
The Duke stood looking at the man and said nothing to him, it was deadly quiet as they both eyed each off, "Can you please put your hands through the bars now, if you want me to cut your ties, if you don't you can stay tied up the way you are." he waited for Aspen to answer him, but instead Aspen sat where he was and said, I will do nothing of the sort, you cannot keep me here, I have too look after the children." "Those children are being well cared for and you will have nothing to do with them, as you will soon hear from the council have taken it all away from you, as you are well over the deadline of cleaning up the establishment, and making sure that the children were well dressed and kept clean, you have done nothing, and now you have lost it all" and with that he turned and waved his hand for all to follow him. the light became dimmer and dimmer as Mr. Aspen sat and watched them all walk away from him, he began to shake with rage when he thought of all that was happening, he thought to himself I will get my revenge, I will, and that was the only thing that he could think of.
