Faraway from You

Prologue

Kira's POV 

It was my first day at Stanford High School. As usual, I was anxious at the change in environment but change it good. Or well, that's what I was told growing up. It was a fresh page, starting my High School journey in a new school with no past to haunt me at the age of 14.

But in truth, I wasn't ready. Ready to face it, whatever the 'it' was. I wasn't ready for the drama, competition, broken friendships and back-stabbing that came with High School but what choice did I have but to suck it up and face whatever was beyond the school doors. I took a deep breath and began to walk down the sidewalks of the cold, windy streets when I stopped abruptly. I had forgotten it!

I quickly turned around and bean sprinting towards my house in search of it. I was running so fast I forgot OTHER people used the sidewalk and bumped into someone in my hurry.

"Um, sorry" I said to the person.

"It's no biggie, I'm Kayla by the way. Kayla Rodriguez"

"I'm Kira Louis" I said in reply as we help each other unto our feet.

"Um so why are you..." she said but I didn't have time to chat. I had to go back home and get it before I was late on my FIRST day of school

"Sorry, gotta run. Hope we meet again" I said as I ran away from the spot where I had bumped into her.

After running  a while I finally got home and dashed upstairs and there it laid on my bed. I quickly snatched it and dashed off to school with 10 minutes left before I was officially late. I kissed the locket as I stuffed into the front pocket of my denim jeans.

I was already panicking as I reached the entrance door. I walked in shyly as I let out a sigh of relief. I made my way to the principal's office and met the receptionist at the front desk for my schedule for the day and headed to my new locker, locker 125.

I put my stuff in my locker and got out my books for the first period, Chemistry. Really?! On my FIRST day! Well, I slammed my locker shut and blended in wit the crowd of students heading to their various classes.

First part of the day went well and almost according to plan. Not bad for my first day here 👌
