The beginning

New Years eve

Mark POV

„Leni? Are you ready? We gonna miss dinner with Bella and David.", I said to Lena, who was still in the bathroom.
„Don't worry, we won't. Besides, I am ready.", she laughed and came out.
„Wow, you look beautiful.", I said and she smiled.
„Thank you Mr. Cwiertnia. You don't look bad either.", she said and kissed me shortly.
„Shit, it's already 10 past six, we should really get going.", I said and she nodded.
So, I took her hand, we left the room and we were walking to the restaurant, where David and Bella were already waiting for us.
„Hey, there you Are. Finally", they laughed.
Today is New Years Eve and we wanted to celebrate the last year, with a good dinner and an exuberant mood. We talked about in how far, the last year has influenced our lives. This year was somehow very special. I played the biggest tour I've ever played and Lena and I, finally stepped forward and confessed our feelings to each other. I was incredibly relaxed and happy right now. The happiest I've ever been in years.
I put my arm around Lena and caressed her arm.
„It's incredible, what happened in the last year. The Tour, The new album, You and I finally getting together.", Lena said and I smiled.
"You're right. I couldn't be happier, that the last year happened.", I answered and kissed her head.
"And I couldn't be happier as well. You have no idea, for how long I was despaired, because I wanted you to finally get together.", Bella laughed. I had to grin. Lots of people told me, that Lena and I should have become a couple way earlier. And now that we are, everyone says, that it was just a matter of time until this would happen. And honestly. It's great that it didn't happen earlier. Now is the perfect time and we are ready to open up and to be honest with each other. We've been friends for such a long time and by the beginning of this year, we finally realized, that we have strong feelings for each other. It's great that we took some time, to figure out what this is and where it will lead us. Now we have the ability to tell us everything and love each other so deeply, that we both are pretty sure, it will last forever. It's a very good feeling to finally have someone, with whom you could imagine to spend the rest of your life with. And I am definitely planning on that.
Finally, our food has been delivered. We ordered sushi and some other Asian food. It was really delicious and the perfect meal, for the last day of the year. The atmosphere was relaxed, we were telling each other funny stories from our childhood and one time, we were laughing so hard, the other people looked at us weirdly. After a while, when we finished our dinner, we decided to go on a little walk in the snow. It was cold, but still very beautiful. Kiwi ran around the Forest and discovered some new things in every corner. Lena and I were holding hands and David and Bella were walking ahead from us.
"It's crazy right? Everything that has happened this year.",Lena said suddenly.
"Absolutely. I am so incredibly happy, that you and I got together. I really enjoy every single second, I can spend with you.", I said.
"Mark. I am flattered. Me too, I am so happy, that you're in my life.", she said and I kissed her softly.
After that, I released our hands, but placed my arm around her. We went to another spot, to celebrate the New Year. It's the perfect place, to watch the fireworks from a little far away.
We sat down and remembered everything we've been through this year, but also the small, beautiful Moments, that made life worth living. And to be honest, there is a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn't that kind of the point? All the more I am happy to enjoy those little moments with my friends and family.
„By the way, it was great, that we celebrated Christmas together this year.", I said.
„Yeah, I enjoyed it very much. Even though I didn't understand that much you and your aunts talked about. Hopefully nothing negative about me.", she laughed.
„Don't worry. Everybody in my family loves you.", I said and she smiled.
„I like your family too. They were so sweet and I was feeling very comfortable very fast. I am thankful for that.", she said.
„It was great having you there by my side.", I said and kissed her very shortly.
„Hey turtle doves! There's only one minute left", David said and we stood up and walked to him and Bella.

„Happy New Year!", everyone shouted.
„Happy new year honey.", I whispered.
„Happy New Year Marki.", Lena whispered back and we kissed very deeply.
When we released the kiss, I took her in my arms and cuddled her a little bit. I really enjoyed the warmth she was spreading and how good she made me feel in that exact moment.
We opened the champagne, filled them in our jars and made toasts.
„Thank you for everything that happened in the last year and I am looking forward to the next one. May it be as great as this one!" Bella said.
We sat down on a bench, started a campfire and grilled some marshmallows, while talking about literally everything. Lena put her head on my shoulder and I put my arm around her and the atmosphere right now was super relaxing and great. Suddenly David took out his guitar and started playing. We sang campfire songs and laughed so hard, because we sometimes didn't know the lyrics. Maybe it was because, we were a little bit drunk.

A few hours later, around 3 o' clock, we went back to our hotel room.
We laid down and I could see, that Lena was extremely tired. After a few minutes, I closed my eyes and immediately fell asleep.

The next Morning

„Hey Leni, are you ready for our carriage tour", I asked and Lena nodded quickly. I could tell, that she was very excited. I was too, because I had a little something planned. We went outside and there was the carriage, which was already waiting for us. I helped her inside and the coachman started driving. Lena cuddled herself to my body and I put my arm around her, and kissed her forehead.
„It's so incredibly beautiful!", Lena said and I agreed. It was. The snow was slowly melting, because the sun was shining pretty bright, so it shined beautifully.
After 30 minutes the coachman made a little break, so Lena and Mark left the carriage, to explore the landscapes.

We went to a small place and we looked at the sea, which was frozen.
„It's amazing.", Lena said.
I don't know if that was the right moment, but I collected all my courage and started talking.

„Leni", I began and took her hands, while she was smiling at me.
„You Are everything. Life is unpredictable, not everything is in our control, but I know as long as you are with the right people, you can handle everything. And you are the right person for me. The things that you have done for me, to help me, support me to make me happy, go above and beyond what every person deserves. You're all I need and I love you and I like you.", I said and Lena was wiping a few tears of her cheek.
„I love you and I like you.", Lena answered.
„I am deeply, ridiculously in love with you. And above anything else, I wanna be with you forever. So Leni, will you..", I began.
„Wait.", she said and I stopped talking.
I was a little scared, that she would say no, but her expression told me something different.
„I need to remember this. Every little thing about how perfect my my life is right now at this exact moment.", she said and I smiled.
I gave her a minute and then I laughed quietly.
„Are you Good?" I asked and she nodded.
„Yes.", she laughed.
„Lena Meyer Landrut, will you marry me?", I asked and she nodded happily.
„Yes.", she said and fell into my arms.
Her tears were streaming down her face and she kissed my cheek a few times, until she kissed me deeply.
„You wanna wear this?", I asked and showed her the ring.
„Absolutely.",she said and I put the ring on her finger.
„I love you so much.", she said and I smiled, kissed her again.
„I love you too." I said and we went back to the carriage, where the coachman was already waiting and he congratulated us, because I inaugurated him into my proposal plans.

Back at the hotel.

When we were back at the hotel, we immediately ran into Bella and David.
„Bella, David, we have to tell you something.", Lena said and showed them her left hand.
„Omg you didn't?", Bella said and hugged us both.
„Yes I did. We're getting married.", I said and she hugged us again.
„Congrats you two!", David said and we visited the little cafe near our hotel, to celebrate our engagement. I was so incredibly happy.
