~~~~Nate's POV (after Gray's growl)~~~~ SURPRISE (Hope y'all like his POV)
Holy shit.
No it can't be.....can it?
I've never met anymore. Are they looking for Rose?! No, I mean her family passed, how could they be searching for her? AH shit. I'm so confused right now. But Grayson did growl, so he has to be one right?
Werewolves. I only know a little about them. And that was by complete accident.
~~~~flashback 10 years ago~~~~
Rose and I were playing hide n seek in our house back in Georgia. We were both 7, and having so much fun. I decided to hide in our parents' room. I quickly climbed under their desk and tried to put the chair in front of me so I would be covered. I was looking around as I heard Rose's steps grow further away.
"Natey I'm gonna find you! I am the master at hide n seek!"
I glanced up at the underside of the desk and noticed a small tab. I pulled it down because I am a curious 7 year old, and find a document. I didn't know what it meant at the time, but I later found out it was called an adoption certificate, it read:
Rosalyn Jacobs officially Rosalyn Emerson; adopted into the Emerson family by June and Noah.
I was confused, so I searched up adoption, and somehow my 7 year old brain understood what it was. I was shocked, but mostly I just wanted to protect her more, even if she wasn't my blood sister, she is still my sister, and I love her.
A few years later I searched up Rosalyn Jacobs and found out that her family had passed in a tragic house fire, she didn't have any relatives left, so she was put into foster care as an infant. Thankfully our parents found her soon and gave her a home to grow up in. I never told her the truth, because I was afraid of how she would react. I didn't know if she would be mad at me keeping this from her, or if she wouldn't consider us as her family. I was just scared, and I wanted to protect her, knowing she has already been through a lot, even if she didn't remember it.
One day, I was taking a small walk in the woods near our house, I was just mindlessly walking around, jumping over large logs, and avoiding the thorns on some of the bushes. I heard a branch snap from behind me and I spun around so fast. It was a wolf. A very large wolf. I was terrified so I screamed, I screamed even louder when the wolf started to morph into a human.
"Shhh! Please kid!" I abruptly shut up and stared at the dude in complete horror, not only was he completely naked, he was also just a wolf not even 10 seconds ago.
"Your Nathan Emerson right?" I briefly nodded too terrified at the situation to remember not to give personal information to a stranger.
"Look I know your probably really confused and scared but I just wanted to talk to you. Rosalyn, she's your sister right?" I nodded yet again.
"Ok good. I don't know if you know this or not but she's your adoptive sister, she was the daughter of my best friend and his wife, before they passed in a fire." His eyes began to water near the end of his sentence. He quickly wipe the unshed tears away and continued.
"Anyway, I knew my best friend, and I knew he would want to make sure that his daughter was living a happy life and was ok. And since your her brother I wanted to ask you to look out for her. Just keep her safe and give her a happy life. Her family would want that for her." I looked at the strange man curiously, before nodding my head and agreeing.
"I will always protect her, she's my family, even if she's not blood." He looked at me with a hint of pride and relief. I asked the one thing I was really confused about. "Um. Weren't you a wolf like 5 minutes ago?!" He chuckled nervously and quickly explained.
"So..well...umm... Ok, lemme just say this. I'm a werewolf. We can morph into wolves and back into humans. We have some 'gifts' . We have superhuman strength, speed, hearing, reflexes, and smell. We also have mates, which are like soul mates, your one true love. You will always want to protect them and hold them, they're your everything. It's literally destiny for you and your mate to be together. Um there's some other stuff but it's not really important right now. The reason I'm telling you this is because my best friend was a werewolf, his wife too. So Rosalyn is a werewolf. She just doesn't know it yet. That's where you come in, on their 16th birthdays a werewolf will transition for the first time, and within that year is typically when they meet their mates. However, since Rosalyn has no idea she is a werewolf, she won't shift, because her mind and body won't know that she needs to. You don't have to tell her, if she never finds out then she will never shift, if she does find out, she will shift almost immediately, but only if its after she turns 16. She will still meet her mate, because like I said it's destiny, but it might just take a while longer for them to meet. Your her brother, so you know what's best for her and you want what's best for her. So I will let you decide whether she knows or not. But for now I have to go, my pack is calling me. Thank you for listening Nathan, goodbye." And with that said, he left a very stunned Nathan in the middle of a forest, processing everything he had just been told.
~~~~Flashback ended~~~~
I planned on telling her everything her 16th birthday, but I chickened out and I was scared of how she would react. So she doesn't know anything, and I feel like the worst person on the planet, I'm keeping her from her true nature, from her world. I just don't know how to tell her the truth. But I do know one thing. If Grayson just growled, like actually growled. Then he might be a werewolf, and based on how he acts around Rose, he might be her mate.
Shit. I have to tell them the truth, or I am officially the worst brother in the world.
I stood still a few more minutes longer, contemplating how I'm going to spill the greatest secret ever known to my sister, and her overprotective-soon-to-be boyfriend. I'm too zoned out that I don't realize Grayson and Rose are in front of me, trying to get my attention.
"Yo Nate your concerning us. Are you ok?" I shake out of my thoughts and look up to Grayson and Rose. He has his arm wrapped possessively around Rose's waist. Yep, he's definitely her mate. At least now I know I don't have to worry about him hurting my sister.
I just have to worry about me hurting my sister.
