The Diary Told It All

To say the least, Remus was depressed. His best friend was just murdered by Bellatrix Lestrange. Molly had recommended he go through Sirius' room and he was almost tempted.

Now, he sits at the dining room table in 12 Grimmauld Place, sipping his glass of Fire Whiskey. Remus sighed and got up from the table. He walked to the bottom of the stairs and stared up them, gripping the railing. He knows Sirius wouldn't want him sitting around sulking. Or maybe he would. He could see Sirius wanting people to mourn him for years. An image of Sirius flashed through his head, "When I die, you better be balling your eyes out, depressed, and blowing off all your plans. I'm important, I tell you, IMPORTANT!!" Remus chuckled and headed up the stairs. He had to be brave.

When he reached Sirius' door, he paused. He stared at the stolen road signs nailed to the door. They all said things like "No Trespassing", "Road Closed", and "Do Not Enter". Remus closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened the door. The room was a mess. He could tell that nobody had been in here since Sirius was disowned when he was 16. Remus glanced at his watch, deciding to finally, after 17 years of Sirius hiding it from him, find his diary.

Remus searched for hours. He was throwing things left and right. He checked everywhere! The drawers were empty, the closet had nothing, and all the mattress had was some cigars and muggle music records. Remus was tempted to tear up the carpet but he knew Sirius was too smart to hide something in any of the more obvious places to look. As soon as Remus was about to give up, he noticed the way one of the road signs was positioned. It was an arrow pointing to a moving picture of Sirius, Remus, James, and Peter in their Hogwarts uniform. Remus took the picture off the wall and found a small hole with a book in it. Remus smiled at how clever Sirius was. He may not have acted like it but he was one of the top students in their year. Remus opened the book and read the inscription. "Sirius, since you have no one to talk to, tell this book. -Reg" Remus smiled. He never knew Regulus very well, but Sirius always said his baby brother would go on to do great things.

Remus flipped to a random page and started reading.

The Marauders are back at Hogwarts!! And boy do the Slytherins know it! We poured a ten pound bag of pepper into their house's pumpkin juice!! The look on Snivellus's face!! I wish I could have just pressed a button and had that face indented somewhere forever!!

We've been searching for years for a way to help Moony, A way to save my friend from the loneliness of his curse. 2 years ago, we, the infamous and glorious Marauders, found out that Remus Lupin is a werewolf. We haven't told him yet but we've found a way to help him. He's been steadily getting more scars each month and he's skinnier than ever before. I'm worried. I can't tell James I'm worried, of course, I'd never hear the end of it. And Peter would end up telling James. And if I told Remus I'm worried about him, he'd just say "I'm fine, Siri. I don't don't need any help. You'd just end up getting yourself hurt or killed." Well, let me tell you now, you lanky wolf-man!! I'd die for you. I'd die for James. And I'd sustain a minor injury for Peter. You're my best friend, Moons. And I'm gonna help you.

Now, when I say WE found a way to help, I meant I did. James was too busy pining over Lily Evans to help and Pete was eating the whole time (no surprise there). My father would kill me if he found out Remus is a werewolf, but I don't don't really care. I'm gonna tell James and Peter my plan tonight while Remus is in the Library, studying with Evans. Wish me luck, non existent reader, because nobody will EVER find this diary.

The full moon is in 10 days. We told Moony our plan, which I definitely took credit for, today. He sighed at us. A lot. We didn't really care though. On the full moon, we are going to take the first step to becoming illegal animagi.

Tonight's the full moon. And Moony has to transform without help, again. We've already put the mandrake leaf in our mouths. Moony is covering for us. Since we can't talk for a month, Moony is saying it's a prank gone wrong. I wish there was a quicker way to do this, but no one can know.
