I can't believe we're finally here!!! THANK YOU to every single one of you who've stuck with me and Alex this far. It means so much that people I don't even know actually enjoyed a story I wrote. That said, I should mention that sometime in the future, when I've learned more about the writing craft, I intend to come back and do a major edit on Lost Game Notes again.
Moving on, here are a few questions you may have.
Will there be a sequel?
No, there won't. Alex's story is complete. I could go on to write about his life with Conan, but I think I'll leave that to your imagination :)
How long did it take you to plot and write?
For the plot, it took me a couple weeks. I really delved into the mystery aspect. At first, the story was leaning more towards Jude and his gang. A couple chapters in and I realized that Alex joining a gang wasn't working with the main conflict, so I dropped it and started again. (The beauty of first drafts, right?)
I used a common plot structure, combined with the flash-light technique—planning out three or so chapters ahead. Yes, I did absolutely change and add to the plot as I wrote. But now, looking back, I see that I really should have worked on Alex's character arc more as well. But I'll leave that for the future.
The first draft took about two months to write. Once it was finished, I let it sit for a while. I came back a month later, and after editing a couple chapters, I started posting on Wattpad.
How did you get the idea?
I came up with the title "Lost Game Notes". That led to a hidden notes theme, where the MC has to look for notes in order to solve the mystery. I thought of Dawn's character first, and then her disagreeable brother, and then the idea of her making a game of finding notes in order for her brother to find her.
Where did you get your inspiration?
1) My love for mystery
2) My siblings who eagerly awaited the next chapter
3) Obviously, the song Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish (One of my favourite songs)
And...
4)The book Confessions of Colton, here on Wattpad.
It has been a long time since I read that book, back when it wasn't a paid story. It obviously made a huge impression on me, even though I only realize that now. Like, now. Whiles I'm writing this. I remembered a scene of a bunch of kids at a carnival, looking for a clue. I think there was also a lost notes theme going on in there.
Let me mention, I did not copy or plagiarize the story in any way. I simply drew inspiration from it, only I didn't realize it back then.If you haven't read that book, I absolutely urge you to! It's been such a long time, but thinking of it now gives me a really good feeling.
So. There are a few questions and answers. However, I KNOW you guys have got some more questions, about me or the writing. Please comment them and I'll add them to this list and answer them.
There may be some questions you have about the story itself. Maybe you didn't understand something. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough at any point in the story. But put your thoughts in the comments and I'll clear up the confusion.
I know there are some of you who haven't commented on Lost Game Notes at all. That's perfectly okay! I've posted my story on here to share it with you guys so you can enjoy it like I have, not for reads or comments or anything. But if you HAVE enjoyed my story, you can still let me know by commenting or voting. It does make me happy :)
And for any of you who are artists, fan art is so welcome. I'm an artist myself, so that will be extra special.
FINALLY... If you loved Lost Game Notes despite it's flaws, follow me! I LOVE writing, so I'll be posting more stories up here in the future. In fact, I'm working on a writing-related project that I'll be revealed soon, hopefully, so definitely stick around for that...So on to you. Questions? Confusions? Thoughts? Let me know!
