I grabbed my bookbag from my locker and left. It seemed as though everyone had a friend or friends to walk with except me. Soon I was the only one in sight. I stopped to tie my shoelaces letting out a sigh. It was brief, but when I reopened my eyes a dog was staring at me. I had a bad past with dogs, my dad had a German shepherd once. Police dogs were vicious, he bit my dad's hand. Ever since then me and my dad were cautious with dogs. But this one was different. It's hair was dirty and its eyes were innocent. I gasped slowly backing away.

It was just as scared as me, it pouted and began to walk away.

"Wait!" The dog turned around, I found myself talking to a dog.

I didn't know my dog breeds well, but I was sure it was a maltese. Suddenly I picked it up and continued walking home. It shivered repeatedly, so I decided to warm it in my heavy jacket.

When I got home I wasn't suprised to see another batch of strippers crowding the couch, I knew my dad would be mad, so I didn't bother to tell him. I walked to the bathroom and began to run some water, surprisingly the best part of the house was the bathroom, well not entirely, the kitchen wasn't so bad.

I unzipped my coat letting the dog hop into the water, Dean's bar of soap layed in the corner. I smiled and began to scrub the dog with it. Dean deserved it though, after all he barely washed up, which explained his odor. The dog shivered once again as it's hair curled up.

"It's okay girl" I said

To be honest I wasn't completely short what gender the dog was, but we had a certain connection, that only a girl could have. I picked up the dripping wet dog and went to my room, locking the door behind me. I grabbed my precious hair dryer, I was about to make a big step. I loved that hairdryer it costed me over $500, which I saved up. But at the time it didn't cross my mine. I dryed the dog's hair and layed it on my bed laying a spare blanket over it. Beside it was my most prized possession, yes my bear. I smiled, petting the dogs head.

My stomach growled.

I knew the only leftovers we had was dad's meatloaf and his meatloaf was disgusting, so I grabbed a box of my favorite cereal and began to eat directly from the box. I hadn't known the dog for an hour but already I was manipulated into its puppy dog face. I threw a bunch of fruity pebbles as it began to eat them up.

"Pebbles, that should be your name" I said ruffling Pebble's hair.

Weeks passed and my dad and brothers were finally aware of Pebbles' presence. He wasn't as mad as I expected, but he made it clear that I was responsible for feeding and walking the dog.

Pebbles began to walk me to school, and go back home when he saw me enter the building. And somehow he knew when school was over and walked me back. I felt like a little kid walking home with a dog, but I didn't care.

This particular day Pebbles ran to Kylie. I rushed after him and apologized.

"Who's this little guy?" She asked petting her.

I guess she didn't realise it was me at first because when she did she rolled her eyes.

"This is Pebbles" I said smiling, it was good to see her again.

I had noticed she had dyed her hair a dirty blond, it fit her well.

"Listen.. Case"

I knew exactly what she was gonna say "Listen case this doesn't change anything, I still hate your guts!"  And flip her hair. But she didn't.

"Me and Pug are having a movie night at my place, wanna come?" She asked picking up Pebbles and cuddling her.

I smiled super big and nodded.

"Cool see you at 8 then" She walked to her car where her dad drove away.

I woke up and screamed, looking at my phone "8:15 pm" I had overslept.

"Thanks for waking me up Pebbles!" I yelled throwing on some clothes, I packed my bag with some extra clothes, my phone, my jammies, slippers, dog food for Pebbles and some scary movies. The usual stuff I packed when we had sleepovers.

I paced downstairs asking my dad for a ride "Officer Mckinely outside, ask him" he said. I sighed I guess I was going to have to manage.

I went outside and walked up to his car "Ready for more?" He joked.

I put up my middle finger, and hopped in the car as Pebbles followed behind.

"Drive me to Pleasant View Street" I ordered.

He grabbed my thigh and stepped on the gas. I was uncomfortable, but it didn't worry me. He dropped me off and I grabbed my bag and Pebbles and knocked on the door.

Molly greeted me with a hug.

"Hey squirt!" I called picking her up.

Molly was my little buddy, I hated that I couldn't see her more.

"Who's that?" She pointed towards Pebbles.

It was the eighth time this week I introduced everyone to Pebbles.

I walked upstairs opening Kylie's door.

I looked around hoping to see more people, yet it was only her and me. She look relieved.

"Oh.. I thought you wouldn't come" She said

"Where's everybody else?" I asked.

She looked off in the distance "Well Pug and Sebastian are dating I guess, and you cheated on Danny so there's a bunch of betrayal in friendships right now"

It seemed so wrong to be happy, but I was feeling to good that I couldn't hold back the smile from my face.
