CHAPTER 1: Moving out of the nest

I decided to include myself in the book, I'll be reader's older sister because I've always wanted a younger sibling :,)
For reasons I will use a unisex name and not my real name.

Summer was just around the corner which meant that (Y/N) would finally be able to move in with their older sister who lived in Hurricane, Utah; at least they would live with her until they could afford a place of their own.
They had been planning this since (Y/N) got their master in Mechatronic Engineering which they got nine months ago, but both of them had to get the required documentation in order to be able to do everything.

It was about 6.00 in the morning when (Y/N) and their parents arrived to the airport.
(Y/N) was kind of nervous and excited at the same time; they were about to start a new chapter of their life in another country which they knew very little about but that's what made it exciting. They saw it as a new challenge and they were more than ready to take it on.
«Anxious?», their mother was looking at them with tired, but loving, eyes while their father didn't say anything, but it was normal since he wasn't a big talker.
«Kind of», they flashed her a big smile as she ruffled their hair gently.
«Actually... I do feel kind of sad, I mean it's hard to leave you and dad behind but all of the birds must leave the nest at one point, right?», looking at the one of the airport's clocks they realized they had to go to their gate that opened in about 20 minutes.
As they were in line for the last controls before getting to the gate, they turned towards their parents and yelled:
«I will make you proud of me, I swear!».

- Time-skip to (Y/N) landing in St. George Regional Airport -

(Y/N) started to frenetically look around for their sister as soon as they got their suitcases from the carousel.
«Over here!» they turned their gaze on the right and there was Caelan waving her hands in the air like a crazy chicken.
They run towards each other, (Y/N) being slower due to the luggage, and they greeted one another with a bone crushing hug.
«The siblings of chaos are back together», they said in unison.

As they walked towards Caelan's car, (Y/N) told her about the job interviews they had in the next days since they could walk to some of those locations, but for the others they needed to take the car.
«You can take the car whenever you want, I don't need it that much during the day since I have a work from home occupation. Plus, I bought a motorcycle a few days ago, so I can use that in case I have to head somewhere», Caelan said before turning on the engine and driving towards her apartment which was about 45 minutes away from the airport.

Once they got to their destination, they unloaded the car and brought all of (Y/N)'s stuff directly into their new bedroom; it wasn't a lot of things just a few boxes with clothes, books, various objects and binders with important documents in them.
«I'm so tired, the jet lag is really getting to me», they said walking in the living room and joining their sister on the couch. Caelan took a small drag of their cigarette lost in thoughts as (Y/N) rested their head on her shoulder, «You should head to bed then, we will have a lot of time to catch up», she sighed before putting her head on top of theirs, «I missed you, I'm glad you're here».
(Y/N) smiled at those words, their sister was never open about her emotions except with them, she always let them know how she was feeling by words or gestures. They both headed to bed after Caelan finished her cigarette.

- The next morning at 7 o'clock -

«Wakey wakey, it's time for school», (Y/N) pinched her sister's nose playfully before sitting on the edge of her bed. Caelan sat up and stretched with her eyes still closed. «Coffee?», asked (Y/N) while handing them a steaming cup, «Black coffee with oat milk and no sugar». Their sister accepted it and took a sip, slowly waking up from their coma.
«Why up so early? It's just 7», she yawned. (Y/N) reminded her about their interview at the Mandra's mechatronics technology company at 8, while at 10 they had to be at the UL's center for another interview.
«Soooo I'll have to borrow your car until about 12 pm then I can walk to my third interview since it's just 15 minutes away from here, is that ok?», they asked as they stood up and headed towards their room to get changed.
«Sure thing. Do you want some breakfast?»,
«Yes, I'm so hungry I could eat you, but I bet you taste terrible», they giggled as their sister kindly told them to fuck off.
After putting on some formal clothes, (Y/N) went into the kitchen where they found a plate of their favorite breakfast waiting for them. They devoured it in a matter of seconds before saying goodbye and heading to their first interview of the morning.

(Y/N)'s POV

I sighed as I walked inside my sister's apartment after returning from my last interview. As I stepped in I heard Caelan cursing in our mother-tongue in the kitchen, so I obviously went to check, it sounded like something serious; I popped my head in and there she was with a cigarette in between her lips, a pair of glasses on and a frown on her face while she looked at her computer.
«What's wrong? Your boyfriend cheated on you?», I joked sitting near her and looking at the screen. She took a drag of her cigarette before sighing.
«I've been single since I can remember, but that's not the point. Alan the idiot messed up a few invoices, boss is pissed off and now I have to check all of them», she laid her head against the table, «This is gonna take forever». 
After a few seconds an idea popped up in my head, «What about going out for lunch? I'll pay», she lifted her head and smiled, «Thank you, you're the best sibling ever. My break is in about 5 minutes so, while I work, we could decide where to go».
She started typing away like crazy while telling me the names of the restaurants, fast foods and pizzerias close by.
"How does she remember all of them? Has she been to every single one?", my thoughts blocked out her voice for a bit before I came back to reality.
«A relatively new pizzeria opened, the name is Freadbear's Family Diner. As far as I know they've got good food and shows with animatronics or something like that», we decided to go with that one.
I started to take off my formal clothes to change into casual ones, I didn't have any more interviews today anyway.
