Maze POV
I arrived at school the next day, almost being tackled by Amie again, everything went smoothly, except for the fact that I kept thinking of him, the way he looked at me yesterday screamed suspicion in all levels. God, why did you think of chatting him while you were practically in. front. of. him.
I was really cautious of bumping on to him today, although it has always been a 20% chance of seeing him for a whole day, yesterday was just a lucky, lucky day.
Right now, I'm with Ves walking around the campus, Aims was currently taking a quiz she missed from her last weeks absentee.
"So, any plans for today?" Question by your one-and-only. There was quite a time left before we have to part ways. Why not talk about random things I thought.
"Nope, nada." Ves shook her head.
"But, Lois asked me to go to the milktea place just beside KFC on friday, you wanna come?" She continued, adding a small tilt of the head while asking.
"You know, I never turn down a invitation" I chuckled. Plus it was already wednesday, what better way to end the week, with a treat. Hey, that rhymed.
Soon enough, the conversation was engulfed by silence. leaving both of us to stay in our own imagination. A bad decision whenever my friends and I go out. I thought, just before I dazed off.
"Ma! Ma! I'm part of the honors list this year" Twelve year old me grinned at my mother, hoping that it could make her proud.
"Mmm.." she hummed, not giving me any attention upon hearing the message. But, even with the ever so 'encouraging' look of my mother, I couldn't help but continue pushing her for a reaction.
I mean who wouldn't be happy, after almost 3 long years, I finally got back to the honors list. with a smile on my face, I spoke again.
"Isn't it cool, ma. I'm finally back. Aren't you happy?" My mom then scoffed. causing my 12 year old body to run chills on my back, afraid on what was coming next.
"Amazing, baby. You're able to come back" She sarcastically said, confusing me
"W-What?" I asked, and that's when she popped.
"The candidates for honors are 13! out of the 13 people, you are the 13th. Why would I be happy? you're an honor, but your still the last. Its just like being without honors again." She spoke, every word making me feel like blades were cutting my skin.
I shut my mouth, looked at the ground, and felt ashamed. I-I just thought she would be happy...
I could still feel her gaze on my head, until she looked away. I felt tears coming out of my eyes, so I lowly told her I was going to the bathroom. Once she sees me crying, she'll give me extra naggings.
I went home that day together with my mom, we didn't speak, I couldn't. Not with the tension I could feel. As we arrived home Pat and Mac were already there.
"Grades?" My mom immediately asked. Pat and Mac instantly dove to their backpacks, giving the report card to my mom. I knew what was going to happen next...My mom smiled, her eyes filled with joy.
"Wow Mac, this grades might get you a High Honor Award" she praised
"It did, ma. Already calculated the average" Mac boasted, her braces shining as she smiled.
"My adviser said I had the highest grades in our grade" Pat cut in.
"That's amazing, honey" My mom hugged them both so tightly, them hugging her back.
"Imma go upstairs, and change..." I said hoping to gain some attention, as always there were none.
I went upstairs changed my clothes, and slept for the night. I didn't eat that night, they didn't notice that too...
"Aze" Ves waved her hand in front of my face, catching my attention
"Aims is already there" she continued, pointing at the pedestrian lane, housing a spaced-out Amie. We both grabbed out backpacks and ran to her, almost hitting her to the road.
We laughed on the way home, Aims going first, then Ves.
I walked alone on the sidewalk, keeping an eye on any creepy and suspicious people in my way. Good thing there were none. Quickening the pace of my strides, I reached the house in a record speed of -I glanced at my watch..5 minutes. joking its not that big, schools is very very close from my house.
Entering the house, I ignored everyone. Again, it wasn't hard seeing as I had no purpose for the moment. I thought.
For the next couple of hours, I did most of my homework, and by most, I meant barely. It was because of a saying I will always believe in. "leave some for the next day, or tomorrow you won't have a purpose" it says. Very encouraging words if you ask me.
Almost forgetting, I grabbed my phone and did my daily routine of messaging tiles.
"Hey hey, it me again" sent 6:19pm. immediately getting a response.
"Ah nice to hear from you again, M. I have been waiting for you" sent 6:19pm
Ignoring the blush that was threatening to cover my cheeks, I messaged him back.
"Waiting for me, you say? if I weren't mistaken, that's a sign of interest Mr. Dane" sent 6:20pm
"Well I am very much interested in knowing who you are, M. when will you give me the gift of knowing who you are?" sent 6:20pm. I giggled at his response
"It's too soon, Tiles. Only been over a week. maybe when you graduate, you'll get to know who I really am, I can assure you, you will be very surprised." sent 6:21pm. the conversation kept on going until it was dinner time. I was practically emitting and aura of happiness, until the end of the day.
