At the end of the trip

The Beginning

TW! MENTION OF SUICIDE!!

It is a silent morning, in a small town called Blandford located in Massachusetts. All that anybody could hear that day was the lovely sound of singing birds, the wind between the leaves of the trees, the sound of the river stream, and in the distance the cry of a young woman to which no one responded. A man walked through the village with a deep look, admiring the sky. On his way he passed the town bridge, something there caught his attention, it was a lonely-looking woman standing at the edge of the bridge. From the place he was standing he could see that said woman was tall and skinny, with long straight brown hair, she was wearing a hoodie and skinny jeans. He could hear her light crying, intrigued he approached her slowly and stood next to her.

He looked down at the edge of the bridge and asked softly

"What are you doing?" - asked Stephan even though the answer was obvious.

Selene flinched, the man next to her grabbed her arm softly so she wouldn't fall. She looked at him a bit frightened, she truly wasn't expecting anyone to arrive.

"You scared me!" -exclaimed Selene with tears still rolling down her face.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to. But what are you doing?"

Said Stephan staring at her curiously with an innocent look. Selene tried to ignore him but he just wouldn't take his eyes off her.

"Are you not going to say anything?" - said Stephan in a half-joking way.

Selene looked at him again, now with an angrier stare.

"What do you want?" - asked Selene in a dry tone, why did he have to come and bother?

"I asked you something first, and well... you haven't answered." – He said shrugging.

Selene stared at him annoyed, she wanted him to leave as soon as possible but he just wouldn't go away.

When he didn't receive an answer, he proceeded to stand at the edge of the bridge right next to her.

"What are you doing?"- She asked confused.

"The same as you, I guess"- he said briefly with an unbothered and calmed tone.

Stephan just looked at her and down to the rocks from the river watching the strong stream pass by. Selene was still staring, frowning, wondering why he cared so much to stay.

"What?"- asked Stephan with an innocent smile on his lips, still looking at the rocks pass by.

"Can't you just go away? I am not going to kill myself with a stranger."- She answered annoyed

"Oh, so that's what we are doing" – He said still with an innocent smile. Was he really that oblivious in these situations?

"Not us, me"- said Selene while she rolled her eyes- "besides, I'm not going to die with someone I don't know, this is kind of a personal thing you know... So, if you don't mind, you can leave now."

"Well, sorry to tell you this but if you are going to jump then I'll go with you, and if you go back to the bridge, I'll go back with you."- said Stephan with a wholesome smile. Selene looked at him with a blank face. - "You know what? Maybe we should go for a coffee and think things through"

"Ok, first of all, this is not your decision to make, and second, there is nothing to think about"- said Selene with a gloomy look.

"Well then let's just have a cup of coffee together"- He said with a smirk, looking at her eyes.
