Chapter 2

"Zippy get out of my face! You're shedding all over my pillow and blankets!"

I picked up Zippy and got out of bed. One of my dorm mates, Miranda, was already up and making her bed.

"Hey Miranda, where were you last night? I didn't get a chance to see you."

"Morning Adelaide, sorry about that. Kaitlynn and I ran into some cute Gryffindor boys last night and we  stayed and talked to them for a while." Miranda said while getting her uniform out of her wardrobe.

I looked at everyone else and they were still asleep. It was almost time for them to get up and get ready for our first day of classes.

While Miranda and I were putting on our uniform and robes, we noticed that it was pretty quiet, even if it was the morning and not a lot of people were up yet.

"Addie, do you hear that?" Miranda looked at me with a concerned look on her face.

"No...?" I have to admit, it's pretty silent and I didn't like it for some reason.

"Exactly. It's too quiet. That's because Kaitlynn usually snores and wakes us up in the morning."

I thought about it, and Miranda was right. Kaitlynn has a bit of a snoring problem that woke us up every morning. We stared at her bed and Miranda walked over to it after a few seconds. I looked at Miranda and then I looked back at the bed. She quickly pulled the blanket off and it revealed a pile of pillows.

I walked over to Kaitlynn's bed and we both shared a confused look.

"She's gone?" Asked Miranda in a puzzled voice.

"Wait what? She gone? You do realize what this means right?" A wave of panic rushed over me. I knew this wasn't good.

"It means that she probably snuck out sometime at night after curfew?" 

"Exactly. You also know what that means for us if she gets caught?"

Miranda stood there for a minute and then shook her head no.

"It means that if she gets caught, we get house points taken away. On the first day of classes!"

Miranda and I shared the same facial expression and quickly woke Sophie and Jillian up.

"What time is it? I was having an amazing dream about that dreamy Ravenclaw in the year above us." Jillian said in a sleepy voice.

"It's time for you guys to get up, get dressed, and help us find Kaitlynn." Miranda said while rushing them to get up.

"Wait where's Kaitlynn?" Sophie asked while getting up out of bed.

"That's just it, we don't know. While Miranda and I were getting ready, we noticed it was too quiet and saw that Kaitlynn wasn't in bed." I said while showing them the pile of pillows on Kaitlynn's bed.

We all hurried up to get ready so we could go out to find Kaitlynn when someone entered our dorm.

"Uh, why are you guys all rushing around the room?"

We all recognized the voice and went to hug Kaitlynn who was standing in the front of our door with a confused expression on her face.

"Where in Merlin's beard were you Kaitlynn?!" I exclaimed.

"I got up early so I can give you all my surprise! Sorry if it caused such a panic." She said as she glanced around the room with our pillows, blankets, and clothes thrown on the floor.
