It turns out everything can go wrong like I hoped it wouldn't.
When lunch came around this afternoon, I decided to talk to Cedric, but when I pulled him aside, all he could say was:
"Adelaide! I've been trying to catch you all morning. Some Hufflepuffs and I decided to have a little Back-To-School get together with a few people from the other houses this Friday night. You're invited of course, and I think we got off the wrong foot when we first spoke, so maybe this can help us set things right again."
After that he patted me on my back and walked back to the Great Hall to join his friends.
"Seriously...a party...?" I said I was walked back to the Hufflepuff table.
Then Luna came over and asked to sit down with me.
"Do you mind if I join you Addie? My housemates seem to be busy with other things right than to sit and eat with me today, but they're always busy whenever I ask to sit with them unfortunately, so I don't mind."
Luna is an interesting person, and people know that. They think she's a bad kind of interesting though. Not the good, inquisitive, and knowledgeable kind like I know. I hate it when people don't give her a chance, and I make sure they know it whenever I look at them in the corridors.
"That's alright Luna, you can come sit with me." I grinned at her and we began eating.
"So Addie, how'd it go with Cedric? I saw you both talking outside the Hall before I came in. I assume you were talking about your concerns that you mentioned earlier today."
"Well about that..." I start to say unenthusiastically, "It seems he wanted to talk to me about our house throwing a party, well a "get-together" in his terms, but I know it's going to be a party, or turn into one at least. He's mates with Jeremy McDowells, that party animal that helped arrange that wild "get-together" last year. If he's going to be there, our house will certainly lose points if the Professors find out who started the party. It'll all turn into one big mess, I just know it."
"While I do believe your concerns are justified, people do change their ways, and maybe they have too. It could be a simple mixer for people to get to know each other and make friends. I'd be happy to come along with you if you'd like. Your dorm mates are also very nice, so I'm sure we can meet them there as well."
Luna was right. I'm not the same person I was when I first started at Hogwarts, and I'm probably not going to be same person I am now once I finish school here.
"You give the best advice, do you know that?"
"I try," said Luna, "Even in the most darkest times a person can experience, a ray of light can shine through. That's what my mum always said to me when I was younger. Even if she's not here anymore, her words of wisdom are still are."
Luna gave a weak smile and continued to eat.
I somewhat knew the feeling, but only a little bit since I barely remember my mum. She left when I was around 5 when I started to display signs of magic. My dad confessed to her that he was wizard and explained that I was a Half-Blood, and that's why I could do extraordinary things. As far as I knew, she couldn't really deal with it that well and left us a few weeks later. My dad was heartbroken, but he seemed to have healed slowly over the years. From time to time I see him looking at old photos of her and I've even seen him shed a tear or two. I think he still loves her, even if its been a decade now. I still believe he does...

"Please Miranda! The Polyjuice potion I made only lasts a of couple hours! It's only the first day of classes and we already have a test on Friday in History of Magic! I'm awful in that subject and you're a whiz at it."
