This one is angst with comfort, im not trying to romanticize anything, i myself struggle with depression and anxiety both, and they've caused a lot of issues. So be warned for parental, abandonment, and attachment issues. This takes place during the time Kiba and Naruto are around 14-15, they aren't ninja in this, just regular highschoolers.

These first few oneshots are going to be me testing out my writing style btw!

Naruto knew he would never be able to understand what it was like losing such a close loved one, sure he admired plenty of people, and perhaps even loved them, but it wasn't the same love you would feel with your parents or family, it was never like losing blood relatives that you lived with your entire life. He would never know the warm embrace of a mother after a long hot day at school, he would never know the laughter filled household after a father cracks a joke at the dinner table. Truth was, Naruto envied the others in the town, they all had families, they all had blood relatives who would gladly die for eachother, but him, he had no one to come home to, no one to go to if something happened to him.

Naruto sighed as Iruka rambled on about a father-child dance coming up, he saw how every other student either gleamed at the thought of spending a dance with their dads or cringed out of embarrassment, he on the other hand just put his head down and stared out of the window, he had started thinking about the fact he lives completely alone, no on but him, you'd think it would be a blast, but it was just lonely, and there was no one to stop you from doing bad things, things you can easily regret. Naruto had forged his parents signatures to get into the school, no one had actually found out they died surprisingly, he used that to his advantage to not get put into the orphanage, and from that point on he's done this to pay the bills, buy weed and alcohol and so forth, he looks exactly like his father so it isn't hard. No one but him knows this though, and he plans on keeping it that way. Naruto hadn't realized the bell had rang until he felt a nudge on his shoulder, he sat up and looked at the culprit, sighing to see it was Iruka, he had a stern but caring expression painted on his face "Naruto this is the 3rd time today you've zoned out, is everything ok? You are usually so energetic and enthusiastic to learn.." he sounded concerned. Naruto gave the worried teacher a smile, it was an empty smile but he didn't care, it was still a smile. "Yes, everything is ok, no need to worry, thank you for checking on me..have a nice day!" And with that Naruto got up, grabbed his things and swiftly exited the classroom. Naruto didn't want to deal with any scoldings on how poorly he had been doing, he knew it would result in a call to his parents, he would have to explain why they weren't answering again and personally he knew that would seem suspicious. He looked around as he made his way to his locker, noticing just how quiet the hallways seemed, he knew that it was already the end of the day but it wasn't normal for the school building to be this quiet, it felt off and he didn't like it. Naruto turned the corner and noticed the that it was empty, he sighed in relief and arrived at his locker, grabbing his things and soon exiting the building. He didn't bother thinking about why it was so eerily quiet and empty in the school, he just wanted to get home and avoid everyone, and that's just what he did, Naruto made it home, ate some ramen, watched TV and got ready for 'bed' which was just him staring at the ceiling in a quiet and empty room, he had a night light on and a bed full of stuffed animals but it didn't feel homey. He rolled over and faced the wall, the more he thought about how alone he was, the more tears swelled up in his eyes until they began pooling out, it was like a dam that broke. He hated crying, it made him feel weak but at the same time, it felt nice to let it out. His crying got interrupted by the doorbell, it had dinged a couple times and that alone confused him, who would be up at this time, let alone over at his house, no one ever visited, Naruto stood up and walked down the stairs to see who it was. Reaching for the door he paused, he gulped and opened it hesitantly, he gazed upon the person and sighed in relief when he saw "Kiba, what are you doing up at this time? Won't your parents be mad?" He asked with a chuckle. Kiba smiled in return and shook his head "i told them I'd be at a friends house for the night, they don't know." He hummed out "besides that, i wanted to know, since i never see you with your parents, do you live alone?" He knew this was kind of intrusive and sudden but he had wandered this for a long time and he knew that Naruto tended to avoid any parental talk so he decided that it was time to ask him about it. Naruto gulped back a startled whimper as he heard the question, his expression changed to one that could only be described as hesitation. He started to shut the door without a word but it was stopped in it's tracks "I'll take that as a yes?" He heard Kiba mutter out, Naruto sighed "it's really none of your business Kiba.." he really didn't want to deal with this, he knew that if anyone found out he was underage and living on his own he would be taken away, and lose anyone he's gotten close to. He wanted to cry at the thought but now was not the time, Kiba sighed and let himself in, he shut and locked the door behind him "no, this has been going on way too long and it's starting to really concern me, and I hate that feeling. What's going on Naruto?" He turned a light on and made his way over to the couch, not bothering to take his shoes off. Naruto was shocked by how bold Kiba was being, him and Kiba have known eachother since they were kids and he knew that Kiba wasn't the type to show his concerns, he knew that it made Kiba feel weak and he hated that he was making Kiba feel that way. In defeat Naruto just sat down next to him and sighed, he looked at his lap and glared at his fists that were clenched shut, if he was being honest, he didn't know where to start, Kiba knew him better than anyone, personality wise so he couldn't lie and say that his parents were out of town or something. Kiba is smart, very smart, he can easily figure out that Naruto was trying to come up with a lie, he rolled his eyes and faced Naruto "I won't tell a soul ok? If that will help you be honest with me then I'll do it." Kiba said in a reassuring tone, he meant every word of it.

After a while Naruto had ended up crying while Kina consoled him, telling him everything would be ok now, he cried and cried until all of the years of being alone and without anyone to talk to, were out of his system, he felt so much pain in his chest it was as if he would have a heart attack. Eventually Naruto moved to face Kiba, his face was messy and full of tears, he hated how pitiful he looked in front of Kiba but he couldn't help it. Naruto soon calmed down and bit his lip nervously "im sorry you had to see that..I didn't mean to break down like that.." Kiba smiled softly and pat his head "hey no need to be sorry..im just glad you got it out..seeing you so gloomy today really sent my concerns over the edge so seeing and hearing all of that kind of relieved me.." he nodded and hesitated for a minute before pulling the other into a tight hug "you don't have to be alone anymore Naruto..I'll be here every step of the way and I'll even stay over for months on emd if it means you have someone to be with..im sorry you were alone for so long and im sorry you had to live with that fear of losing us..you'll never lose me and that's a promise!" He said as he cupped Naruto's cheeks and looked into his eyes. Naruto smiled softly and hugged Kiba "thank you Kiba..that means a lot..but what about your parents, won't they get confused as to why you aren't home for months on end?" He asked with a worried expression, gripping at the cloth of Kiba's shirt. Kiba shook his head and snickered "I have my ways, besides they couldn't really care less, they're always busy with work anyways so it's not like anything would change." The brunette gave a thumbs up as he stood up "starting tonight I'll be staying here!" Naruto sighed, he let out a rather quiet laugh before standing up "I don't really have a guest room but i do have my bed and some blankets if you'd like? I can sleep on the couch," He suggested with an upbeat tone, getting ready to go grab his things "nah i think I wouldn't mind sharing a bed tonight, besides I said you wouldn't be alone didn't I?" Kiba stated proudly with a grin. Truth was, Kiba had liked Naruto, for a long time. He was a flirtatious dog and he knew it so he used that to his advantage, Kiba knew it wasn't ok to take advantage of someone he just consoled by suggesting things such as sleeping in the same bed and getting close to eachother, but he didn't care right now, all he wanted was to be with Naruto, keeping him safe and warm. Naruto didn't protest, instead he smiled and gave a shy nod "sure, why not?" And with that, they made their way to the room and soon enough they were situated, Naruto facing the door and Kiba facing the wall, eventually drifting off to sleep.
