Sadie Kane marched up to her brother, Carter Kane, who was lounging on the couch with Zia, his girlfriend.

"CARTER!" She bellowed, her face red with anger. Carter turned around, as did Zia.
"What is it, Sadie?" Zia asked, truly concerned for her boyfriend's sister. "Is something wrong?"
"Yes, there's something wrong. My dearest brother has not been completely honest with me!" Sadie huffed. Carter inwardly flinched.

"I met someone today. Her name was Annabeth Chase, a rather bright young woman. She claimed that her boyfriend, by the name of Percy Jackson-" Sadie shot a rather nasty glance at her brother, "-had run into you, while looking for the Son of Sobek. Does the name Percy Jackson ring any bells, dear brother?"

Zia excused herself, sensing that a fight would break out between the siblings. Zia scurried out of the room. Carter turned to his sister.

"Look, Sadie, I'm sorry-don't you dare say anything, I'm not finished- I didn't tell you about Percy Jackson. I was confused and I was still piecing together the puzzle pieces." Carter said to his sister truthfully.

All of the resolve left Sadie's body and she walked over to the couch and plopped herself down next to her brother. She sighed deeply.

"I met an Alexandrian god today too. He called himself Serapis." Sadie said to her brother. She relayed the entire story to her brother.
"Setne!" Carter exclaimed, anger flaring up in his eyes. "I should have known!"
"He's tampering with dangerous magic. It was both Greek and Egyptian. I didn't like any of it. Not one bit. Everything seemed wrong, twisted and horrible and wrong." Sadie continued. She looked up to her brother. She whispers, "I was scared witless, Carter. He threatened Athena. He threatened Isis." She pulled her knees to her stomach.

Carter realized something. His fearless little sister, with her bravery and brashness, was scared out of her mind. She was frightened to her very core, and he had to take on the role of big brother. Carter snaked an awkward arm around his sister's shoulder, and strange enough, she didn't pull away, she just scooted closer. She was oddly comforted by her brother's awkward actions, though she was too proud to admit that.

Carter eyed the tyet pendant around Sadie's neck, but didn't get angry about it. He had the Eye of Horus around his neck, just hidden underneath his clothing. The siblings agreed that they were powerful and mature enough to handle the power their pendants possessed.
Carter and Sadie sat there, lost in thought when Sadie broke the silence.

"Carter?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think we'll see them again?"
Carter thought for a moment. He chose his words carefully. He decided to be honest.

"I don't know. We met Percy and Annabeth by chance, right? So, if fate allows it, we'll meet again. I don't know when we'll see them again. Maybe we won't see them ever again. Maybe we will. What I'm trying to say is that I seriously have no clue." Carter said.

Sadie took her brother's answer and nodded, as if she was agreed with his words. Carter silently congratulated himself on passing Older Sibling Advice 101. He imagined himself getting a diploma with that on it. He smiled at the thought.

Sadie and Carter laid there for as long as they could, before they were called back to their duties.
