Chapter Six: Marco's Friends
Marco
I knew it was a school day, so I waited to get Leo and Czarbor later on. I’ll get them together in no time, getting them by Friday will be a piece of cake. I guess my choice was to go to Ingal and Wyatt first. They were also orphans, who found each other, and now are living somewhere at the edge of the forest in a camp. They kind of lived like how Clementine lives. Orphans who refuse to go to an orphanage, and decided to live out in nature, while getting their daily stuff by working. I headed over to where I remember they’re tents are. Not just one, two person tents either. They had those for sleeping quarters, but they had one, huge tent for just daily life. They were able to fit a generator there, so they can charge up their laptop when low of battery. I saw the familiar sight of large, red and black tent, and saw Ingal, who wasn’t working today, sitting on a fold up chair, playing a game or something.
“Hey Ingal, how’s it?” I asked as I approached their camp.
“Who goes there? Oh, it’s just you Marco, shouldn’t you be in school or something?” Ingal asked.
“Well, no. I ran away, and I’m not going back to the prison.” that sounded less cool than it did in my head.
“Where are you staying at?” he asked back, and I paused in silence. Oh the humiliation I’ll get when he finds out a girl rescued me from my idiotic act. I finally decided to explain the truth, as well as the plan, and I did so, leaving Ingal with a mixture of confusion, shock, amusement, and skepticism, all written across his face.
“So will you and Wyatt come this Friday? Make sure you tell him?” I asked, trying to change the subject, but I knew what Ingal was going to bring up next.
“Wait, you’re telling me, that you’re staying with a girl?” he asked, a slight grin forming on his lips.
“Will you come on Friday?” I ignored.
“You sure she ain’t your girlfriend?” he continued.
“No, hell no. Why would she be my girlfriend? She can be annoying a lot, and is rather rude in fact.” I blabbered on, trying to convince Ingal to stop it with his usual “Marco needs to get a girlfriend” rant.
“Whatever, and yes, I’ll go on ahead and explain this all to Wyatt. He’ll be amused when he finds out you have a girlfriend.” Ingal giggled slightly at the end.
“For the last time, she ain’t my girlfriend!” I snapped.
“As I said, whatever, but don’t say I warned you so.” Ingal shrugged. Next was for me to get Simon, a silent kid living in a used up apartment, also an orphan. All my friends were basically orphans, except for Leo and Czarbor, who just had an abusive family. I headed into town, and tried to remember his address, and found the worn out, old looking building that seemed like it hasn’t been repaired or used for a good twenty years.
“Yo Simon, open up!” I knocked hard on his door, since he usually either had headphones on listening to death metal, or watched T.V. extremely loudly. He’s listening to music was my guess, since the apartment was rather silent. A couple minutes later, I figured out my loud knocks and screams worked since I finally heard a sigh, couple footsteps, and the door opened up, revealing a blond boy with piercing blue eyes. He didn’t seem like the type of person who would listen to death metal if you first met him.
“What do you want?” Simon asked with an annoyed tone, and I explained to him.
“That’s a stupid idea, what are we, five? Plus, girls can be crazy with what they want.” Simon simply answered.
