"What is wrong with you!?" Marinette shouted when they returned to their room. Adrien paused in his tracks, confused on why his wife was snapping at him.
"What......? What are you going on about? What did I do?" Adrien questioned as he closed the door behind himself. Mari's back was still turned to him, her muscles clenched.
"Why were you so ticked off!? So, stressed out!?" She flipped around to face him, her hair fanning out behind her.
"Excuse me!? I'm stressed out!? Look at you!" The blonde fired back.
"Don't I have a right to be!?"
"You're saying I don't!?"
"You know what I meant." Mari huffed, bringing her fingertips to her temple and shutting her eyes tightly.
"Actually, I don't." As the tension between them grew, Adrien's blood began to stir. How had this come about? Just a few moments ago she had seemed to be his ally against Lila. He had no idea what was setting her off now.
"You know I'm not surprised. You were always oblivious anyway." Marinette jabbed.
"Maybe if you told me things straight up; I wouldn't be so oblivious to them." Adrien explained bitterly.
"That's what you say." His spouse snipped in reply blowing him off with a flip of her hand and turning her back again.
"You really want to do this right now don't you?"
"Do what? Prove a point!?" She flipped back to face him again aggressively.
"Well in order to prove a point, you got to have one don'tchya Mari!?" He brought his arms out to his sides, exposing the air around him to symbolize that she had nothing against him in this moment.
"You're so infuriating!" Mari groaned as she raised and flailed her arms frustratedly before dropping them to her sides at a rapid speed. A loud slap echoing throughout the room when her palms slammed into her thighs.
"What did I even do!? You act as if I know what I did!"
"You should!"
"Do you even know what I did!?" The blonde extended his arm out toward her to emphasize his sentence. Adrien was at a loss. His wife was still yet to explain anything to him.
"You know what....!?"
"What!?" Adrien interjected, hoping she'd elaborate. They were within a foot of each other now. His height forcing her to get up on her tip toes in order to get into his face.
"I don't know what the point of any of this is!" Adrien shattered. Was she talking about their marriage in general? Or was it just this moment she was talking about? What was she getting at? Surely it wasn't their marriage. Right? The doubt circled within him. A single fight wouldn't lead to divorce would it? Even if it did, he would never allow it to go through. Adrien wasn't going to give her up that easily. As she had mentioned earlier in the evening, she needed him as much as he needed her. No, he was going to fight for this marriage.
"So, you agree you don't have a point?" Adrien tried to calm himself. He wanted to prevent things from escalating further. They didn't need this. Neither of them wanted this, that was clear. Yet, they had found themselves in what seemed like an endless cycle of bickering since they returned from the party. Mari again turned her back on him with a groan, restraining her hands from pulling on her hair.
"Adrien, I'm not doing this with you!"
"You're not doing what with me!? What have I done that set you off!?" Now Adrien was even more confused. Had he said something? He couldn't recall saying anything at all until they were back to the guest room though. Did it truly have to do with him at all?
