*TRIGGER WARNING*

"They're trying to hurt you." His voice was smooth and deep.

"But, I heard her voice. Doesn't that mean she cared? At all?" Paige questioned the man in the slick suit.

The man in the slick suit picked up two espressos and handed one to her as he walked towards the window that showed the view of Paris. "If she cared then why would I be here instead of her? When you were in the hospital I came to visit you. Do you remember what I told you?"

"That M- she put me into the coma. She planned everything. It's just I don't kn-"

The man in the slick suit cut her off. "She did this to you. She's still trying to do this to you. You're powerful and now she wants that power. You have to stop her and her friends, they are too far gone."

Paige took a sip of her espresso and just as the heat began to flow through her body she felt a sharp pain in her head. Dropping the cup she pulled on her hair as she fell to the ground, succumbing to the unbearable pain. The voices in her head beginning to speak up.

They're too far gone. You can save them. You can save them through death. She will be happy.

"What's happening?" Paige yelled as the voices grew louder like static on a TV.

"When my team and I worked to save you, we had to transfer Blaze's power to you to begin the Inferno Trials. But, she stopped it because she didn't want you to live." The man in the slick suit took a sip of his espresso and walked towards Paige on the ground. "When she broke the machine, all of her power burst into you. Because of the pressure, your mind was bound to crack at some point. But I can help you. I know how to fix your mind."

"How? How can you stop this?" Paige grunted as she looked up at him her eyes glowed an intense chartreuse.

"You see, the transfer of power didn't work as planned because she still had something within her. While she doesn't realize it yet, she is powerful which makes her very dangerous." The man in the slick suit sat on the edge of the bed next to Paige. "She's still controlling you with that power. Once you kill her, everything will be okay again. You'll be a hero."

Paige looked down and took a couple deep breaths as she tried to manage the pain. "You'll get used to it. Soon the pain will be helpful. It will remind you of your goal." His voice echoed through her head and for a split second silenced the voices.

Paige's eyes welled up as she shook her head in an attempt to muffled the pain more. You can be fixed.

NOW

-

Paige stood in the bathroom staring at herself in the water stained mirror. The streak on her face made from the tears she had poured the night before. The look of failure and disappointment frozen on her face along the the dark circles under her eyes.

To stop herself from crying she held a glare and scowled at her reflection. From a strangers point of view, she would appear immensely sleep deprived.

"You're pathetic." She spat at the mirror and glanced to the edge of the sink where a shard of glass from the mirror was sitting.

She gritted her teeth and picked up the broken glass. Catching a glimpse of her black eyes that flashed green in the light, she squeezed on the shard. As she squeezed, blood began to drip from her palm as her face remained still.

After taking a breath she held the jagged glass up to her chest, looking at the curves in the mirror and back at her reflection.

The pain will help clear your mind. The pain will help you realize your goals. The pain will make you better, stronger.
