The Emotions- Ch.1- The Beginning

It was a normal day for our favorite cat and fish. Gumball and Darwin were in science class, comfortably sitting in their seats. Darwin was bored but still paying attention. Gumball on the other hand, was bored and not paying attention whatsoever. The class was learning about chemistry. If Gumball was paying attention, he would've known that the class would be doing an experiment today. As he was daydreaming about the weekend, as it was only about two days away, he missed the directions. The class was going to try and make crystals out of different ingredients. When Gumball snapped out of it, the teacher said that they could choose who they wanted their partners to be. Of course, both Gumball and Darwin looked at each other with a slight grin, showing that they both wanted to be partners with each other. I mean, they've been brothers and best friends since they were young! As the teacher called up a student from each pair, Darwin walked up to get the ingredients they needed. Gumball was still sitting at his desk, a bit nervous since he didn't know what he needed to get. For all the partners, one would get the ingredients while the other would get the tools. Once Darwin came back, he knew what was happening.

"You weren't paying attention.. were you?"

"Uhm...yeah I was. I was just waiting for everyone to go back to their- yeah, I wasn't paying attention," Gumball admitted.

"Ok.. you just have to get the dropper, the flask, the thermometer, and the evaporation dish. Got it?", Darwin explained.

"Got it." Gumball responded.

As Gumball walked up, he wondered what the experiment was going to be. He had no idea. Then he got back to his seat with the right materials. When he and Darwin were done, their crystal wasn't like everyone else's.

"Uh.. dude? Did we do something wrong? Cuz' our crystal is glowing; and it's pure white!" Darwin asked.

"I'm not sure. Did we? Check the ingredients you got!"

As Darwin was reading the labels, he saw one that said,

"Under no circumstance should this be mixed with the elements"

"Uh.. I think we accidentally put this in." Darwin said as he showed the container to Gumball.

Gumball noticed something peculiar about what this substance was called. This substance wasn't on the periodic table. They looked it up on the internet, and there was nothing known about it. The substance was called Emotogen. (Emo-toe-gen)

"There isn't anything known about this stuff.. I hope it's not dangerous."

If only they knew that this was no ordinary, unknown element. This substance is a powder used in dark magic. As they were trying to figure out what this stuff was, the lunch bell rang. Gumball slipped the crystal into his pocket, and rushed out of class with Darwin to the cafeteria.

"I have too many questions. Where did that stuff come from? Is it dangerous? If it is, how dangerous?!"

"Shhhh... calm down, we'll figure all of it out. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about."

Darwin was getting overwhelmed with all the questions flooding his mind. He was also scared of the substance itself. While Gumball was very calm about it. After they got done with school, they walked home so they could discuss the pure crystal.

"Dude, why are you freaking out about this?"

"Why aren't you?! This is an unknown element we're interacting with!"

"Darwin, you never freaked out when Principal Brown was going to blow up the school."

"YES I DID! AND FOR THE RECORD, YOU DID TOO!"

"Okay, okay, jeez. Don't go crazy about it.. how about we talk about this inside."

By the time the conversation ended, they were in front of their house. Once they got inside, they were greeted by their sister, Anais and their Mother, Nicole. They would've also been greeted by their father, Richard, if he wasn't asleep on the sofa. The two boys greeted them back, to only be back in the room that started the whole day. The bedroom. The two sat on the floor across from each other, only a few feet apart. Gumball took the crystal out of his pocket, placed it in between them, and then the two did research. One of the most noticeable properties was that the closer it was to Gumball, the brighter the glow got. The further away, the dimmer the glow. By the time they were done researching and doing homework, it was about 5:30 pm. Their mother called them down for dinner, then they went straight back up to their room. To their surprise, their sister believed them and came up too.

"Where did you find it again?" Anais questioned

"We created it in science, but we accidentally put an unknown chemical in it.. so we don't know what to do." Gumball explained

"We did some research. Like, we wrote down different properties it had and stuff." Darwin chirped

"What were the results?" Anais questioned

"Well, whenever it got closer to Gumball, it glowed brighter. Then the further away, the darker it got." Darwin explained

"Uhh.. well that's something. I've never heard of that before. There has to be a scientific explanation."

They sat up there in their bedroom for a couple hours surprisingly! They were contemplating, discussing, and even having some arguments about the crystal. Finally, Gumball said something that wasn't related to it.

"Ugh, all this thinking has me tired out. Why don't we go to bed. We can figure this out in the morning!"

That's when the three looked at the clock and realized that they had been in their room for three hours straight. It was 9:00! Just then their mother called from downstairs,

"Hey guys? How about you start getting ready for bed?"

The trio answered with,

"Okay Mom!"

They all got their pajamas on, brushed teeth, and went to bed. Gumball thought that having a crystal in his pocket would be very uncomfortable, so he put it on his dresser. Just before his dreams were about to take over, he looked at the pure light on his nightstand. He noticed that the crystal didn't have it's usual white glow. It looked like a very pale cyan, just like his fur. He didn't think anything of it, and drifted off to sleep. But that night is when things would start to turn into a new adventure.
