Everyone slept through the entire night. Kai and Ava were the first ones awake in the arena. They looked over the edge of the hill they had just slept on. To their surprise, the water was gone. Everything that had been completely destroyed with the flood had been restored. They knew the number of tributes were dwindling, so they headed down the large hill. They knew they had an upper hand on most tributes, but didn't want to engage in fights unless it was necessary. While they were making their way down the hill, they saw a bunch of girls sleeping. They weren't quite sure who they were, but they knew they were just more competition. Kai and Ava remained hiding behind a rock as they devised their plan. Ava asked,
"Do you want to do it, or do you want me to?"
Kai replied,
"I mean you have the far range weapon, so."
Ava rolled her eyes but knew it had to be done. She grabbed her deadly spear and held it behind her shoulder. She closed one eye as she aimed at one of the girls. They were all facing the other direction, so Ava randomly selected her target. Ava took a deep breath then thrusted forward launching her spear in the air. It flew high, cutting through the air, then landing right through Brynn's head sounding a cannon instantly. The remaining girls immediately got up due to the splash of blood and loud cannon. They looked around to see Brynn's lifeless body with her head slathered with blood. Finley then looked around to see where the spear came from. As she was peering the perimeter, she spotted Kai's shoulder behind a rock. She shushed the girls and pointed in his direction. Anna was the only one without a weapon, so she walked over to Brynn. She hesitantly pulled the spear out of Brynn's head making a crunch sound. It was heavy and covered in blood, but it was better than nothing. They slowly inched over to Kai's position, yet when they got there, him and Ava were gone. They all looked over to Finley thinking she had been lying, but on the other side of the rock sat Kai and Ava. They tried to remain as still as possible, not making a single sound until they all left. Once they didn't hear any more chattering or footsteps, Ava started to remember. Finley and Ava had been a duo all their lives, up until the Kathy games had started. What had happened to that? All the good times together, why did it go to waste?
"Finley it's me don't shoot me! Come join us, just don't shoot!"
Ava held her breath as she held both her hands in the air as she stood up from behind the rock. Glared back at her was Finley, with her bow and arrow aimed right at Ava. All it took was for Finley to release the arrow and it would immediately sound Ava's cannon. Ava's hands remained in the air. Luckily, Kai hadn't got up from the rock yet, so he crawled around it. Once he saw Finley he got up and tackled her to the floor. While being tackled Finley released her arrow by accident. The arrow flew right towards Ava but just in time she ducked, saving her life. Finley and Kai were both still on the dirty ground. Kai got up first and retrieved his machete, pointing it at Finley's neck. After a few moments of stillness, he helped her, making their duo alliance now a trio. They watched Jade, Josie, and Anna run down the hill from a distance. Anna still had Ava's spear, but there was nothing they could do at the moment. They spotted vibrant fruit latched onto a tall tree and nodded at each other. It had been a while since they last ate anything, so, they went for a climb.
Once the deadly waves were gone, Tessa and Abby exited the cornucopia. They left Lily's dead body lying there, knowing there was nothing they could do. Through the night, Abby had cried herself to sleep over the loss of her best friend. Before they left the cornucopia, Abby said one last final good bye to Lily before they left the cornucopia.
The girls may have thought by pushing James off a cliff and into deadly waters he would die. But amongst many things they were wrong. In fact, this gave James a fire he didn't have before. He wanted revenge, he needed it. After Finley pushed him into the blue darkness, he swam until he found a cave. Once he swam into it presuming he was going to die, the water just stopped. The cave had 0 water in it, like it was almost waterproof. There was an obvious but invisible barrier, that kept the water from entering the cave. At the entrance he could see the dark waves smashing against the barrier trying to get in. But it didn't budge, it was safe. He fell asleep thinking about how those girls, his "friends" betrayed him. Sure, it was a game, but you didn't need to betray one another.
