It was a summer morning, the sun's rays hit my eyes and I woke up. I had a beautiful dream about someone finally coming to adopt me. Some one who understood me, someone who loved me very much. At this point having a dream is better than the reality I am living in. Then we did the usual. We had seen no one except ourselves.  The kids who were adopted before the pandemic are vey lucky. We have no one here except the caregivers, they come 3 times in 1 week to see us and gives us our meals. We all tried our best to stay happy but you really can't. We are about 6 people about the age of 11 and 12. We tell each other some jokes and have some fun. I actually thought about it, none of us have any "real" names. It might seem weird to you but that is the truth. Anyways we just had our "dinner" it was Rice salt and butter, we had   grown a habit to this cold rice. We only knew one thing about the outside world, there was a disease and it was spreading really fast. It was called the Covid - 19. This was scary, the world didn't know about this new disease and they were trying to come up with medications. We didn't even know what the symptoms were. All my friends and me were introverted people. I mean we never spoke to anyone outside our nice, cozy cottage. There is a knock on our door, we all remained dead silent. Our caregivers always had a key to open the door, this was not a caregiver I thought to myself. There was dead silence no knock. Then we heard a man talking on a phone. It was a thick Hindi accent, I couldn't make out what he was saying. A few minutes later there was a sound of a key opening a door. We were scared, the door opened and the caregiver came in, behind her a man who wearing something in his mouth which was blue in colour. The caregiver was extremely happy. She said calmly "Kids this man is going to adopt one of you". I was beyond than happy. He talked to each one of us I asked what was the thing he was wearing in his mouth he said it was called a mask. He decided he was going to adopt ME!! I ran and  gave him a hug. I never had hugged someone but when I hugged him I had Dejavu. He filled out the registration form and I hopped into his car and we left. He asked my name, I said "I dont have one", he asked "What do your friends call you?". "Umm they call Shaan". He said "What if  I called you Shantanu?". I agreed. He stopped at a local supermarket and then I saw a boy wearing glasses, slim, T-shirt and jeans. I gave smile at him he gave me a weird look and then he smiled back. My dad came back and gave me toothbrush, paste, soap. I smiled at him. We then reached home, it was a beautiful wooden cottage. He went in and showed me my room, it was really nice room with enough sunlight and enough space. There was a book on a lamp table, I went near it, there was a red bow tied to that and I read the title it said Diary. I opened it and my dad came "That is for you son". I asked what is there in this?" he said "You can write whatever you want to, emotions anything!"

I thanked him. My dad is tall man a bit fat and he wears glasses. That's it Diary

Bye :)
