"Favorite colour?" Luke asked.
"Green."
"Favourite animal?"
"Unicorn."Me and Luke have warmed up to each other and now were just making small talk and asking each other random questions. Calum had nodded off behind us. Although I had gotten used to talking to Luke by now, my mind still hasnt fully wrapped around the idea of him sitting next to me on the plane. It definitely didn't wrap around the idea of him taking my head when taking off.
The converstion ended when I rested my head on the chair and closed my eyes. We have been flying for an hour, and still had nine hours to go.
"Please don't go to sleep." Luke whispered. I opened one eye and peered at him.
"Why not?" I asked, closing my eye again.
"Because I am bored and I need someone to talk to." He said, pouting. I opened both of my eyes this time, and there he was, sitting slumped in his chair, arms crossed, and his bottom lip sticking out in a playfully angry expression.
I giggled and poked him in the side, he grinned and reached out to tickle me. "I swear if you make one more I will yell and crash our plane." I said before he could touch me. He laughed and faced forward, closing his eyes.
"Im gonna sleep now." He says.
I laugh and look at him with an amused expression.
"I though you wanted to talk?" I ask, lifting one eyebrow up.
"I changed my mind." He answers. I chuckle and press the button on the side of my chair to recline. I close my eyes and fall into a deep sleep.
-----
I wake up to the pilots static voice on the loudspeaker.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please buckle up your seatbelts, we will be landing shortly."
Did I seriously just sleep through nine hours on a plane? I look over at Luke. He was asleep as well. His forehead was resting on the open window, his hair a lot messier than when we first got on the plane. I shake his shoulder until he jolts awake.
"What....What happened?" He mummbles, rubbing his eyes.
"We are about to land." I say. I reach down into my backpack, which was under my seat, and take out a piece of gum. Gum helps with the horrible, gut wrenching sensation of flying back down.
"Want one?" I hold out a stick of gum in my outstreched hand. Luke grabs it and shoves it on his mouth. I chuckle and push the botton to make my seat go back up. I peer in between several rows of seats to look at my parents. They were sitting there chatting away. My dad spots my spying eye in between the seats, he sticks his tongue out and crosses his eyes, making me laugh. I turn back around. We were about to hit the ground. I feel the bump as the wheels hit the asphalt and everybody starts clapping. I've never really understood what they clap for. Is it for the pilots or for the safe trip, or are they just happy to escape the cramped plane and nasty food?
Me, Luke and Calum all get up at the same time. "Hey, Mariana, do you and your parents want to catch a ride with us to the boat? It'll save you some money. The taxi drivers here charge an insane amount of money." Luke offered, looking at me awaiting an answer.
"One second let me ask my parents what they would rather do." I said, turning around and seeing my parents already grabbing their luggage from the little compartment above. "Mom!" I called out.
She looked over at me and nodded, indicating for me to continue.
"Luke here has offered us a ride to the ship, I think we should accept."
She smiled. Uh-oh. I knew that smile. It was the smile she had when she was about to say something embarassing. At this point she was already heading towards me in the narrow aisle between the seats.
"Isn't this the boy you have plastered all over your room? The one you always say is hot?"
My face turns scarlet, I hear Luke desperately trying to hold in a bubble of laughter.
"Mom!" I hiss at her.
"I think I have to say yes, or else she will probably do some horrible things in my sleep." My mom laughs, Luke joining her. I roll my eyes and walk forward, catching up to Calum.
"Luke and my mother are being annoying." I whine.
Calum chuckles and looks over at me. "Luke is always annoying, and mothers are always embarassing, you should probably get used to it." I huff out and cross my arms. Calum chuckles and takes my bag for me.
"Thanks." I say, grateful to have the heavy load taken off from me. "No problemo! And for what it's worth, I think Luke really likes you." Calum really has no idea how much that's worth.
