"Mint please." I said at the counter of the ice cream parlour. They had just asked what flavour I wanted yet deep in their mind they couldn't get a certain someone out of their head. They handed me the ice cream a moment later and I handed them the money "keep the change." I said as I walked away. "Thank you." I heard them say before I left. I loved cold things so I went for ice cream most days of the week, it was refreshing. Also I was immune to brain freeze so that's a bonus.
I looked around me and the streets of the small village were empty so I decided to risk it and hum my favourite song. It really was a risk since every time I sang, the power grew stronger. If I wasn't careful, I could shatter someone's ear drum.
A cool ocean breeze hit my face as I passed by the beach, closing my eyes to bask in the soothing pleasure. I took a seat on a nearby bench and ate my ice cream, listening to the crashing waves.
I heard my phone ping and picked it up. It was my adoptive mother asking when I would be home, she always worried like this even though she knew I liked to take my time coming home. I never enjoyed hearing her thoughts, she often regretted adopting me.
I looked towards the ocean, not wanting to think of that.
I sent her a quick text back saying i'll be home before dark. After my ice cream, I played on my phone for a while and sent Hobi some funny voice messages. Before I knew it, the sky began to darken so I stood up from the bench and continued my walk home.
My phone pinged again so I took it out my pocket.
I laughed at the picture Hobi had sent me:
I was so distracted from my phone that I walked into a lamp post. I fell right on my ass.All these powers and this still happened.
I rubbed my head "fuck." I mumbled to myself. A shadow suddenly towered over me with hand outstretched in front of my face. I took their hand without thinking and was immediately pulled to my feet. "Thank you." I said and looked into their eyes.
Strange.
No voices? Was his mind just blank?
I scanned their face, wow he was hot. Wait what!? I noticed their eyes had moved to the phone I clutched in my hand then back to my face. I stepped away from him, the close proximity making me a little flustered.
"What are you?" He suddenly said making my whole body freeze. Did he know?
"What do you mean?" I acted nonchalant. "You're obviously not a werewolf, you smell human. But I can't be mated to a human. It's impossible." His deep voice stated, sending a shiver down my spine.
I don't even know what I am so how am I supposed to answer this?
"I don't know what you're talking about!" I shouted a little annoyed. I heard him growl and he took threatening steps towards me.
