"Niall, you can help yourself to anything in the fridge and I'm going to get to know Dahlia here." Maura says. She passes me a mug of tea. The mug has Greg engraved on it. I look up on the shelf and see that there is a Maura one as well as one with Niall.
"Don't worry, sweetheart, I'm going to get you one. They are sold in the market and I just think that they are so fun!"
"Thanks, Maura." I say quietly and sip on my tea.
"Sweetheart, call me Nan." She says. "Maura is too formal and I was never a fan of Grandma or Grandmother."
I nod.
"Thanks, Nan."
She wraps me in another hug, somehow tighter than the one before. Niall walks in and clears his throat.
"Mom, the breathing thing?" He reminds and she apologizes and let's go.
"So, why didn't you tell me you had a daughter?" Maura asks and Niall shrugs.
"I wanted to tell you in person and I didn't have a good chance to do that until now. I only adopted her last week." Niall says and sits beside me on a couch.
Maura 'aww's and comes to hug me one more time, this time lighter and I return the hug.
"Now, let's go and braid your hair. You will look so pretty! She says and I agree, following her into the master bathroom.
She sets me up in front of the mirror and gets to work, doing the most intricate braid I've ever worn.
"Wow!" I say and brush my fingers gently over the half up half down crown braid in my hair.
"Now your hair won't cover those green eyes of yours." She says while gently curling the ends of my hair.
We leave the bathroom and go to show Niall.
He claps as we walk in and I over-exaggerate a curtsy.
"All hail Princess Dahlia of Mullingar!" Niall shouts and both him and Maura over-exaggerate bows. I laugh.
"Well, thanks for having us here, Mom. But we should be going to our place. I still have to show Dahlia around." Niall says and we wave goodbye.

"Your palace, your highness."
I laugh. Niall has been pretending that I'm a Princess the whole ride home.
"Why thank you, my prince." I say, trying to contain the giggles.
I take his arm and we walk formally up to the front door.
"Oh. My. God." I stand with my mouth open, staring at the literal mansion.
I gesture with my head to the mansion in front of me and Niall laughs.
"Let's go inside, yeah?"
I nod and follow him in.
It's even bigger on the inside. I look out the back window and see a pool.
"Can I jump in, Niall? Please?" I give him my best puppy dog eyes.
He shakes his head.
"No, Lia. It's late and cold outside and I don't want you to get sick." Niall says. "You also should have been asleep hours ago."
I shrug. "But I'm not tired!"
"No, Lia. You're going to bed because I don't want you tired tomorrow and complaining." Niall persists.
"But Niall." I complain, dragging out the 'L'. "Please, NiNi. Can we watch a movie and then I'll go to sleep I promise." I continue, not giving up.
Niall doesn't answer me, just pulls out his phone and dials a number.
"Hey." He says.
"Yeah."
"Ok."
"I'll do that. Here she is." Niall passes the phone to me. I don't even know who it is.
"Well hello there, Princess. Ni here says that you are being stubborn."
Oh no he didn't.
"Seriously, Niall? You called Daddy Direction?" I ask and Niall shrugs.
"What? He can make anyone do anything!" Niall says.
"So, Princess, why are you giving Niall a hard time?" Liam says through the phone.
"Um, because he wants me to go to bed but I don't wanna." I say sassily.
"Yeah, well, Niall, if I was there, I'd probably be able to do something but I'm in a total different country right now, so, you're on your own, mate." Liam says. "Bye!"
"Bye Lima Bean!" I say and Liam hangs up.
"Ok, Love. I'm gonna show you your room upstairs and then I'll tell you a story and then you are going upstairs." Niall tells me and I nod.
"Okay, but you have to carry me." I say and before he has time to answer I jump on him and koala hug him. Niall laughs and walks up the stairs with me clinging for my life.
