"Whoa! They really cleaned this place up," Marty observed. The next morning, Doc brought Annika and Marty, now in acceptable attire for the time, to Hill Valley High School to fix what they had damaged the day before.
"Looks brand-new," Annika agreed. Her hair was pinned back and she was wearing a light pink dress with a cardigan, which unfortunately didn't have any pockets.
"Now remember, according to my theory, you interfered with your parents' first meeting," Doc reminded them as they walked into the school. "If they don't meet, they won't fall in love, get married, and have kids."
"What a shame," Annika joked.
Doc didn't seem to hear her. "That's why your older brother's disappearing from that photograph. Your sister will follow, and unless you repair the damage, you'll be next." He warned Marty.
"Sounds pretty heavy," Marty commented.
"Weight has nothing to do with it," Doc countered, sending a weird look to the boy from the future.
They entered the school and watched as students walked up and down the halls. "Which one's your pop?" Doc asked Marty.
"That's him," Marty pointed feebly down the hall, where George was walking, surrounded by Biff's friends. He turned around and the trio cringed at the "Kick Me" sign taped to George's back.
"Maybe you were adopted," Doc suggested to Marty.
The bullies knocked George's books out of his hands and left as an older bald guy approached him.
"Is that Strickland?" Annika asked in astonishment.
"Jesus, didn't that guy ever have hair?" Marty questioned.
They watched as Strickland called George a slacker. Marty had deja vu to all of the times Strickland had stopped him in the hallway and called him a slacker.
"What did your mother ever see in that kid?" Doc wondered aloud.
"I don't know," Marty confessed. "I guess she felt very sorry for him 'cause her dad hit him with the car."
Annika turned to look at him. "Hit you with the car," she reiterated.
"That's the 'Florence Nightingale effect," Doc mentioned. "It happens in hospitals when nursed fall in love with their patients." Marty sighed as Doc slapped him on the back. "Go to it, kid."
Annika and Doc stayed behind and watched as Marty approached his father. Doc turned to the girl. "Have you seen your parents since you've arrived."
She shook her head. "No, they didn't grow up in Hill Valley. I promise I won't screw up the future like Marty has."
Doc nodded as Marty brought George over to Lorraine and her friends. "Go over there," he told her.
Annika nodded and went over to stand on the other side of Marty.
"I'd like you to meet my good friend George McFly," Marty introduced George to Lorraine.
"Hi, it's really a pleasure to meet you," George approached Lorraine and leaned his arm against the locker beside her, trying to act cool. Lorraine ignored him and walked towards Marty.
"How's your head?" She asked him, gingerly touching his hair.
"Uh, fine," Marty flinched away from her.
"I've been so worried about you ever since you ran off that night," Lorraine told him. "Are you okay?"
As Marty struggled for something to say, George turned around and walked down the hallway. Annika tried to step around the two to stop him, but accidentally ran into someone.
