sleeplessness

Kaitlyn closes her eyes. The portal to a world of dreams open as Kaitlyn falls into a deep sleep.

Kaitlyn finds herself in a kid's bedroom. She was lying on the bed, looking at the celling. She gets off the bed and starts to look at her surroundings to find clues about where she is. On the floor, there were dolls scattered around, along with chunks of fallen hair. The dolls were smiling, but not in any normal way as dolls should be. They were deadly grins, which made Kaitlyn freak out.
It's almost as if she could feel the evilness radiating inside of them. She decides to put the dolls aside and check other things in the room. She finds the light switch and turns the lights on.

It was a very beautiful room, with a lavender wallpaper. Everything in the room was arranged nicely, except for those dolls she found earlier. The bedsheets, the pillows were all a pink-ish color. She then realizes it is her room when she was still a young girl. She didn't quite remember herself as a very innocent girl back then. She finds a chest of toys that she always begged her parents for when they were going shopping. She opens it as flashbacks of the past starts to pop up in her head. She gave a slight smile, then closes the box.

Suddenly, she heard loud noises from outside. She leans closer to the door, to hear her parents fighting over something. She attempts to open her door quietly, so she could get a better understanding of what's happening. Turns out, her parents were arguing about their money problems. They have been in debt for a few months, since it was essential in order to pay for the house they were living in. They were scared that the loan shark will be sending people to their house, leading to terrible things happening. Arguments about other things started to come, which made Kaitlyn very terrified. She wanted to stop them so badly, but her fear stopped her from doing so. She decides to close the door, but she heard heavy footsteps coming closer and closer. She was frightened and she knew she had to hide somewhere. Her only option was hiding under the bed, which was a very obvious location but the only choice available then. She quickly hides herself under the bed, covering both her mouth and nose to avoid any loud breathing. The door opens, following up with 3 men coming in. They were looking around for valuable items and Kaitlyn to keep as a hostage. They searched everywhere, the chest filled with toys, the wardrobe and drawers. They were about to go until Kaitlyn moved her feet and hit the bed above her. It created a loud noise that drew the attention of the intruders. It was quiet for a while until a masked man looks under the bed. Kaitlyn was being pulled out, dragged away out of her house. She was being taken inside a large truck, blindfolded with her mouth taped. They didn't leave just yet as her dad screamed for her back. The intruders couldn't stand this so they stabbed Kaitlyn in her head.

That moment, Kaitlyn woke up as she was sweating everywhere on the mattress. She sat there for a brief moment, thinking about the things that just happened in her terrible nightmare. She grabs a cup of water to calm herself, then switches the air-conditioner on. Her attempt to going back to sleep didn't work out well, so she decided it was best if she watched some videos or anything to calm and stop herself from thinking about the horrible dream. She lays down and turns on TikTok again. While she was watching, there were noises coming from the bushes outside. It was continuous, which brought Kaitlyn back into reality. She was too scared so she made a decision of dialing her parents. The other side was ringing, but no one picked up. She gave up hope and just continued watching, ignoring the sound haunting her.

Kaitlyn has been watching for an hour, she only stops when her stomach calls for food again. She didn't forget about the things outside the window. The noises stopping coming, but she was still terrified. In order to satisfy hunger, she opens her bedroom door quietly and walks towards the kitchen. She searches for anything edible in the fridge but it was no use, there was nothing left. She could either go to a convenient store or let the hunger win, but the danger outside is still lurking, anything bad could happen. Luckily, she manages to find a pack of instant noodle laying there in the cabinet. She makes a delicious midnight snack and brings it back to her bedroom. She puts on a movie and enjoys her food. Suddenly..
