"Let's go!" I whispered, when the coast was clear.
Sadie padded out of her hiding place first, "Hazel, Shadow and Rose," our heads turned to her. "You guys follow Mr. Bilnos, and Rocky and I will try to find more clues about why he is acting so weird. We'll meet up here in 15 minutes." We nodded in agreement-except for Shadow.
"But I want to-" He began, but broke off when Sadie gave him the death-glare.
We shuffled up the steps, Shadow becoming shadow. He disappeared, and we saw him next on top of the steps, since when was he that quick?
"Hurry!" He hissed. "Mr. Bilnos is disappearing from my sight!"
We quickened our pace, and when we reached the top Shadow was gone. Seriously, why can't he wait for us? I sighed and padded to a bookshelf. Amongst the many books I saw a key....
"Hey Rocky!" I hissed. Rocky came over, sniffing the key.
"What do you reckon it's for?" he asked.
I shrugged. "Dunno." I admitted.
"Let's check the door down that creepy hallway to see if there is anything." Rocky glanced at the end of the corridor. We headed in that direction, looking around each of the creepy doors.
"Let's check every door." I said to Rocky.
Rocky shivered, then tentatively walked towards the gloomy door. Just then, the door opened.
"HIDE" I hissed to Rocky and we both dove behind a vase of flowers. It was Mr. Blinos' butler, Charles. He was carrying a platter of cheese. We snuck past him and went into the door. There was a golden sign on it, it read:
Maid's quarters.
Atop a nearby shelf, I saw a key, what's more, it matched the same one we found on the bookshelf! I blinked. There was a note next to it. It said:
To Billy the butler,
When you read this letter, give Sir Bilnos both keys immediately, the matching key is @ bookshelf near the chef's room.
-Poopsie the maid.
Rocky and I stared at each other, eyes brightening up, CLUE!!! But later, our jubilous moment was pushed down with confusion. Why did Mr. Bilnos need two matching keys? And what did Mr. Bilnos need those keys for that was so urgent? I shook my head, trying to figure out the confusing piece of the puzzle.
Is this the end..?
