"Don't you ever call me a bad friend, because I was there for you when no-one else was, and I would have had been there for you, forever and always, had you not pushed me away."

...

"I'm sorry." A malicious tone edged her statement.

"You always are." I dismissed her, "You always say that but never, have you ever, lived up to your words!" My voice came out hoarse, as I croaked through my tears, staring in the brown eyes that once familiar, seem distant now.

I don't see my best friend, of 8 years, in front of me in this moment, rather I see a cruel stranger who knows how much I hate being vulnerable.

She looked at me, piercing through my soul and pondered over her response before reassuring me saying, "This time I mean it Fizzy, I promise."

Promise

noun

A declaration or assurance that one would do something or that a particular thing would happen.

What happens when you break a promise?

"Breaking a promise is the worst thing a person can do. It not only disappoints the person who had been promised to but it also erodes their self esteem."

This statement is true but it's incomplete in so many ways.

Keeping a promise is the best thing a person can do. It's the most beautiful feeling a person can feel and breaking one is the exact opposite.

Breaking a promise is not as simple as the statement above illustrates it to be. Breaking a promise doesn't disappoint a person, it takes their happiness away. It doesn't "erode a person's self esteem", it completely kills it, it completely shatters their self worth and value.

Breaking a promise is not as simple as one not getting what they were assured they would, it means that they were lied to, had been played with. Breaking a promise is not as simple as a few dishonest words, because it breaks a person into a million pieces, it leaves one not being able to trust someone the same way again.

I know, because I have experienced it and you don't want to know what it feels like. Trust me.
