JULY 3RD

7:23 PM

I felt like a real Jane Austen character.

With my easel set up in front of me, the fading light lighting the garden perfectly, my paint brush in hand. All I was missing was my fancy 18th century gown.

There was a scene that Aelin and I had laughed over in high school. One of the heroines and her friend stood in the garden and painted the landscape. The heroine's was actually good while her friend's was quite terrible.

Aelin joked one day I was going to live that scene.

And she was right.

I was living it right now.

Also, my painting partner was considerably better than the heroine's friend was.

"I love that shading," I glanced at the duchess, "What colors did you mix to get that?"

Duchess Helena answered, "The midnight blue and the cotton candy pink."

I made a mental note for future references. That was a super pretty shading combination. I could learn a lot from Duchess Helena.
