"He is not picking our call, everyone is worried bhai" Inaya almost cries while she explains, and me who knows the reason, I am trying my best to bring the worry on my face they all will be expecting.Pressing my fingertips in the both corner of eyes I sigh to myself, "Come lets see" I mutter out before walking towards the leaving room where I can hear Ammi screaming and yelling. Goodness. Your som doesn't deserve this worry mum.
"Yeah I am trying, please calm down" Zaarib rubs my mother's arm in an attempt to calm her down but she shakes her head and only bursts at the poor soul more as if he knows the reason of his son's disappearance.
"Ammi, stop that" my voice comes out ruder than I intended but why would she even yell at Zaarib for answers like that, she is lucky that he loves her more than anything and is listening to her scolding even when not necessary, only if it was other cousins of ours they would've yelled back or leave the room the next second.
"Zain!" Her eyes snaps up and she rushes towards me, grabbing my arm she squeezes me in her hold, the evident fear in her eyes only makes me feel more terrible than I am already feeling.
Huma bhabhi and Ammi has the same look that is filled with so much anxiousness.
"Your brother is not answering our calls and any of our messages" she tells me in a hurry, worry dripping in her tone, and I had to hold myself back from rolling my eyes at that 'my brother'.
"Hm?" I raise my eyebrow trying to act surprised "let me try and stop getting worried he is not a kid he will come back and its just 7 now so calm down" I give her soft smile and she nods.
I slip my hand in my pocket in search of my phone but I do not find it, "wait for me, I'll be back" giving a gentle assuring rub on her arm I turn and walk towards my room.
Quietly I open the door to find my wife waking up with that confused frown she always have when she wakes up.
Her hair spilled out of that loose bun only makes her look ten times more beautiful. Goodness how did I become so lucky. Pressing my lips I stop myself from smiling like a freak but I move to wake my already awake wife.
"Hi" I smile when she grins up at me, not able to resist I bend down to kiss her cheek, before moving away from her I ruffle her already messed up hair which replaces her smile with an irritated frown.
Grabbing my phone, I turn to leave when Jannat questions "Where are you going?" She struggles to sit up "living room" I do not give unnecessary information. When she nods I leave Jannat in her own world trying to come back.
My mother stands up when I enter the room and looks at me eager to call his son and know his whereabouts.
My finger hovers over my so called brother's number and I hesitate, I cannot bear standing straight when I hear his voice, can't he just drop a message and not seek attention, its not like he is in coma which I which he was.
My hesitation become more evident to everyone's eyes but before they could yell out for me to act fast a loud greet distracts them.
I look at my friends annoying voice who is being extra loud and cheerful today.
"Assalamu alaikum!"
He drops all the cary bags he was holding on the table and looks at us with a confused frown—which looks so fake that I had to control myself from face palming in embarrassment.
"Why is everyone having this 'ugly' look what happened?!" Ammi rushes towards him to explain, blinded in worry nobody sees the fake act he is pulling which so clearly in bold letters screams fake.
