''Seriously Mom! You want me to get married because my single status bothers your neighbors.'' Nirali fumed over the phone. Her mother, Asha was now acting impossible. Nirali belonged to the world where people cared more about the status update on the phone than the happenings around them. While Asha, her mother came from the golden age where not just family but neighbors too stood up for one another. She believed living by the society rules while Nirali believed in creating her own.
''Nirali, its not they are abusing. Its for your benefit. You are young, you have choices. Once you touch 30; boom! All vanishes in thin air.''
Nirali smiled at her mother's words. Asha was a simple upper middle -class housewife, whose world revolved around her family. She had spent half her life worrying about her kids' career and the other half was now going in worrying about their wedding. While Nirali's elder sister Rupali, decided to escape in name of onsite opportunity, Nirali's heart never gave in to give a consent for marriage.
''Mom, I must go. I will call you in the evening.'' Nirali disconnected, her thoughts going wild. Why did the word marriage irk her? Why wasn't she ready to give a chance? Why was she so closed to the idea of casual dating? Not that she never did, it just didn't appeal to her anymore. She groaned irritated at her own thoughts when a loud cheering took her attention. She looked over the balcony of her office window and found a huge group of people cheering someone. No, she wasn't keen to know about the reason, but this applause took her back to years back, the same applause then made her heart flutter and cheeks blush.

The crowd cheered as the lead singer of the band finished his song, throwing a kiss at his audience. Lakshay's songs had a charm and his music had the power hundreds together. Th crowd cheered for him demanding more, he had been obliging them for pat 1hr and now his band looked exhausted. He thanked everyone before calling the other 3 to the front. Together, they took a bow to the lovely audience before taking the leave.
''I can die for you Laskshay.'' A young girl screamed from the crowd. She had managed to climb the stage but never reached the band members. The bouncers grabbed and pinned her down so that the members could leave.
''I can die for you Lakshay!'' Varun, Laskhay's childhood friend mimicked the girl making others laugh. ''You have got a big pool of choices. I think its high time you decide and settle. Its better to grab on the opportunity when it arrives or you left with regrets.'' Varun's voice held the pain of unrequited love but before anyone could reach out. He stepped back -laughing at his own words. Lakshay knew what his friend meant but he couldn't explain and never wanted to why and what he felt and why he refused to let it go. He smiled recalling the smiling eyes who once cheered for him in the audience. He wondered if she still missed him or thought about him.
Lakshay knew about Nirali's whereabouts and she knew of his, but they never reached out. Why? Because they are the ones who are the real villains of their own story .
