"I told you the first thing I remembered was being about 4 and lost in a forest right?" Shiori said. The couple nodded. "Well I was human at the time but I have absolutely no memory of what or who I was before that exact moment. I spent maybe a day out in the forest just wandering around before she found me.".

The teen took a shaky, shallow breath before continuing. "Her name was Hayashi Ichika and at first she thought I was just a lost child. She took me back to her car and wrapped her coat around me, it was late fall at the time. I remember her fussing over me and being really worried that someone was looking for me. She started immediately driving to the police station but sometime during the drive I shifted." His voice was a little uncertain and pained "I think in that moment she decided that I was a bird that could change into a human and that no one was looking for me so she kept me.".

"So you lived with Ms. Hayashi as a human for years? Does that mean you have official documents somewhere?" Shouta asked. Shiori nodded. "They're probably still in the house with her. I don't remember the address though. I spent a long time trying to forget.". Hizashi felt his heart squeeze and reached out to hug Shiori to his chest. The white haired boy buried his face in the hero's chest.

"She sent me to school and for years I thought she was really my mom. Guess I imprinted on her or something." The boy's bird joke fell rather flat. "Then when I started getting older I started wanting to shift again and she didn't like it. She didn't want anyone to know because to her I was secretly not human and no one could know her son was beneath everyone else." Tears pooled in Shiori's black eyes "I was punished for shifting. She would lock me in my room all weekend or starve me unless I ate worms cause if I wanted to be a bird I should be prepared to eat what birds eat. And then she broke my wing so I-I-". The boy broke down in sobs.

Hizashi tried to shush him to no avail. He just seemed so fragile and broken. "Shiori, can you listen to me for a sec?" Shouta said, brushing the boy's fluffy white bangs out of his face. "You could turn into a bird right now and never turn back and we would still let you stay at U.A." He said, his tone even and calm. "You could stay human and never turn back into a bird and we would let you stay at U.A. And obviously you can go back and forth and we will still let you stay. Regardless of what you are species wise you're a child and we wont let you stay homeless.".

"Class, I'd like you to meet Yamada Kei. He was a last minute addition to the class and was admitted directly by Nezu." Aizawa said in his normal deadpan. Class 1-A looked at the teenager in front of them with a lot of mixed emotions.

Midoriya was freaking out. No one in the history of U.A had been admitted via a principal's sponsorship, especially not the hero program. Todoroki was eager to size up the new kid, to check out the competition if you will. Bakugou already hated the kid. He looked small and weak, not at all the type of person who should be in U.A.

The rest of the class sat more on the Midoriya side of the equation.

'Yamada' himself wasn't feeling so good after seeing their reactions. How had he even gotten here?

Nezu had called Hizashi into his office to tell him he had seen the footage of Shiori shifting. Although he hadn't spread the news he was eager to, more of his weird experiments. Luckily the principals curiosity got the best of him and he provided a U.A entrance exam to Shiori so the couple could gauge his grade level.

Surprisingly enough Shiori hadn't failed like they assumed he would. In fact he had passed with flying colours which only tripled the bear-dog-weasel person's interest.

That was how Shiori ended up in the hero course under a fake name. Also added to the mix was the fact Shouta was giving him a crash course in 'being a hero' while his class trained for their provisional licenses since he wasn't exactly trained in combat.

Shiori didn't want to be that type of hero anyway. His quirk, whatever it may be, was far more suited to recon and stealth work more so even than the invisible girl. Cautiously, the boy took his seat between Yaomomo and Midoriya the latter of which was staring at him while mumbling under his breath.

"Mr. Aizawa, where's Shiori?" Mina asked, sounding a little sulky. Shiori inhaled sharply. He held his breath and barely heard Aizawa say he was with Hizashi that day.

Shiori stepped into the hallway and took one last final look at his room. Shouta and Hizashi had been way too generous with their money when it came to decorating. Everything was in a light grey and soft yellow colour palette and it all looked great. Even better were the several intricate bird toys and hanging nests that they had gotten him to put up in the dorm's closet.

"Yamada?" A voice called out, making Shiori flinch. "Yeah?" The white haired boy said nervously.

"Why do you have bird toys?" Uraraka asked. There was no malice or condescending tone in her voice, just pure curiosity. This made Shiori feel bad for lying so much.

"Mr. Aizawa said you guys had a bird, Shiori, right?" The bird himself said nervously. The reason seemed to dawn on Uraraka with a little 'ohhh'.

"Then, you wanna study with us? We've got an english test that none of us are prepared for." She asked sheepishly. Shiori smiled. "I'm pretty good at english, maybe I'll be able to help.".
