Tobio Kageyama does not make promises.

Anymore.

How could Tobio he when he couldn't even keep the first one, he had ever made.

Kageyama would never forget the promise he made, never forget who he made the promise to. That promise was probably the main reason why he decided to take this trip in the first place.

That promise though, was also why he was hesitating at the gate to his plane. Is not like he didn't want to go; this is something He has been dreaming about since he was a kid.

He has wanted adventure ever since his grandfather, who had told him story after story about traveling around the world, first introduce him to the wonders outside his small home town.

Even so, he knew if he boarded this plane and let it carry him to his destination, he would be breaking the first and only promise he had ever made.

"Cross your heart," and cross his heart he did.

Taking a deep breath and adjusting his carry on over his shoulder, Kageyama took the first step into the Airgate that would lead him to his plane, his adventure. As he walked down what seemed to be a never-ending hallway, he tried to push away the memories that were fighting their way up to be acknowledged.

It was only after Kageyama deposited his carry-on bag in the overhead bin above his assigned seating, after he made himself comfortable in his window seat. Only then did he allow the memories of his childhood best friend and promises unkept fill his mind.

"Stop laughing, jerk. You're lucky I only broke my arm, I could've Died!"

"Oh my god, Kageyama! Who knew you could be such a drama queen?" Shouyou Hinata giggled in response to Kageyama's whiney protests.

If anyone else would have called Kageyama that, he would have glared and spit a few colorful words that a kid his age should not even know existed. But this was not just anyone, this was Hinata, his best friend. So instead, he huffed out a breath and pouted, he knew it was a childish thing to do but couldn't bring himself to care.

"I'm not a girly queen! If anything, I'm a king." Kageyama insisted.

At this Hinata let out a full, loud laugh, grabbing at his stomach and bending forward at his waist. When he was finally able to rein in his laughter, he managed mock seriousness and bowed his head to Kageyama, who sat fuming in his bed, a cast bandaged around his right arm.

"of course, your majesty." he was barely able to say around his stifled giggles.

Kageyama rolled his eyes, "I'm serious Sho, that was a really long drop, what if I landed on my head instead?"

"I said I was sorry! I even went back for the balloon, just for you!" Hinata exclaimed, voice rising in pitch. He held up the yellow balloon by its string toward Kageyama.

With a sigh, Kageyama silently took the string from Hinata, a silent acceptances of the red heads apology.

"Anyways, now that the king is done throwing his royal tantrum-" Hinata started, ducking to avoid a pillow from colliding with his face, "I brought you a surprise!"

Kageyama watched from his spot in his bed as his friend bounced away to retrieve his backpack, which he dumped on the floor when first arriving. After retrieving his bag, he came rushing back, jumping high and straight onto the bed.

Kageyama let out a small yelp as the movement caused his injured arm to jostle, making a dull thrum of pain shoot up his arm. Hinata immediately freezes, shooting the injured boy and apologetic look.
