Chapter Two – This Step is Treacherous
Three days. Three freaking days. Three freaking long days. That was how I managed to avoid my dad after the incident. I wasn’t ready to face him. Thank goodness Ryan wasn’t able to catch up before I stumbled out of the door since I was not an athletic person like him. I wasn’t even in the mood to talk to him too. I cooped up inside my room, typing the things that rolled off inside my head for my upcoming novel. My fans were going to love this, I hoped so.
Shutting down my laptop, I decided to get something to eat. It was three am in the morning and I hadn’t eaten anything for dinner yet. It was because I didn’t like to face dad at any particular moment. I hadn’t had the guts to confront him or him to confront me. All I needed was space. I opened the door of my bedroom quietly and tiptoed my way towards the kitchen. Luckily, there was a box of pizza inside the fridge. I opened it, got two pizzas out of the box and placed it on a plate inside the microwave and set the time to ten minutes. While waiting, I opened my Blackberry and tuned in to my twitter account. The news spread fast when they heard I was linked to Ryan Parker. I denied to my fans a multiple of times about our relationship with Ryan, but it seemed they didn’t believe my lies. It was with the way I behaved three days ago, it was like I was completely affected with the proposal.
I sighed when I heard a faint sound of footsteps from afar. I tensed; what if there was a burglar ready to steal my things? I scrambled my way up and found the nearest and most possible weapon I could find, a baseball bat that was displayed at our kitchen cabinet. I grabbed it and clutched it tightly at my chest, looking for the owner of those footsteps. I never noticed I was already shaking from fear, fear I might get killed at any moment. When I could see a lone figure appearing in the hallway between the kitchen and the living room, I pushed my bat and hit that lone figure which collapsed to the ground. I smirked. I was really good at fighting bad people.
“Ow!” the sound groaned, making my whole body stiff. It couldn’t be. It couldn’t be him. How was he able to get in our house?
“Ryan?” I asked, still shocked as to how he entered our house.
“It freaking hurts like a bitch!” Ryan whimpered, nursing his injured crotch.
I hit him, not on his arms but on his crotch. I could feel my cheeks swam in fire. They were so hot I knew I was as red as a tomato. I guessed beating bad guys wasn’t my forte after all.
“Help me, Hannah!” he screamed, moaning in pain.
I flinched. The way my name rolled off his tongue sent me shivers. I immediately helped him get up before he would constantly call my name. As my hand made contact with his skin, I felt him stiffen. He then relaxed as I sighed in relief. I heard the microwave dinged. Ryan was sat on the bar stool near the kitchen island already, slightly nursing his buddy. I placed two pizzas on two plates and handed him one.
“Thanks,” he whispered as he took a bite of his pizza.
“No problem.” I shrugged nonchalantly and then asked him, “May I know how you got into my house?” I gave him a light glare which he gave me his trademark smirk in return.
“Your dad let me stay here for awhile,” he replied as he took another bite of his pizza.
“Why?” I asked, my blood starting to boil in anger. Why couldn’t dad understand? He was really stubborn. He knew what had happened between me and Ryan and he was making things worse by letting this asshole stay.
