Y/N L/N ALWAYS HAD A CALMING EFFECT ON OTHERS. for as long as she could remember, she's been the person everyone goes to when they need someone to rely on. she served as an emotional outlet for them. friends and strangers alike flocking towards her in search of comfort.
she was their pillar. the person that was always supposed to be there for them, offering support when they need it most. but she began to notice, with everyone she knew expecting her to remain strong and unwavering, she was left with no one to confide in.
kiyoko shimizu was the first person to change that for her.
they met in middle school when they were on the same track team. with both of them being soft-spoken and introverted, they naturally gravitated towards each other. over time, they became inseparable, practically joined at the hip throughout middle school. they didn't need anyone else, they had each other, and that was enough.
when they spent time with one another, they could be themselves without the fear of being judged. together, they joked around and smiled more. kiyoko had always been the more serious one of the two, she was usually straightforward and blunt. y/n, on the other hand, was more loving yet calculating, carefully chosing her words and actions, always keeping everyone's best interests in mind.
even with their differences, they understood each other. they were best friends. they could confide in each other.
when the time for them to pick a high school rolled around, y/n was forced to move in with her aunt, who lived several cities away, because of issues within her family. the girls were devastated, their best friend wouldn't be with them when they started at a new school. but despite their sorrow, they made a promise. once they were third years and old enough to afford their own apartments, they would rent one and complete their third year together.
it's been two years since then, and there was now one month until their third year officially started. over the course of these two years, the two girls had kept in close contact, texting, calling, and visiting each other whenever they had the chance. both matured mentally and physically, blossoming into beautiful and intelligent young women. they were beyond excited for their first year at high school together. it was noon when kiyoko called y/n.
"hello, y/n." kiyoko greeted bluntly, "did you pack everything you'll need and clear things up with your aunt?"
y/n responded cheerfully, "hey, koko. i'm all ready to go. i'll be heading to the station in thirty minutes."
"good." she smiled slightly on the other end of the phone, "i'm... glad your coming. i missed you."
y/n laughed softly, "it's only been a month since we last saw each other, silly. but yeah, i missed you too."
suddenly a feminine voice could faintly be heard calling out to y/n. "i'm guessing it's time for you to get going?" kiyoko questioned.
"it is. i'll see you soon, koko."
"see you, n/n."
kiyoko hung up the phone before continuing to unpack her belongs into their new apartment. this was going to be a new chapter in both of their lives, and it was safe to say they were beyond excited.
