Muharaba is a short story about Alishba, a woman who is strong, sassy and knows her own mind.
Plagued by memories of what could have been, what should have been fill her mind every day, and a person she knows she should've been, and should've been with.
However, reality soon comes knocking for her when she has to fulfil her duty as a South Indiam Muslim - she is put into a forced marriage to a man she doesn't love and who is more than horrific.Life takes a horrific turn for Alishba when reality and fantasy are two polar opposites and she can't seem to stop thinking about a life that could have been with Zayn.
When her husband does something unimaginable, and Alishba stumbles upon an unlikely and inspiring lecture, she realises she must do something. However, life comes knocking for Alishba again and she realises that one can have everything yet still miss something -- or someone.
However, Alishba also realises something else - she is better off on her own.Muharaba is a short story that is both beautifully written and yet painstakingly heartbreaking. The author uses the voice of the unfortunate majority in her culture and puts it in a realistic setting to raise awareness. But the truth is, this isn't just a reality of the Muslim culture, or the Indian culture... this is women's culture. Behind the amazing, beautiful writing and truly heartbreakingly wonderful writing style is something women face every day and Thasli's story brings that to life.
This story is something that needs to be read, and needs to be taken to heart.~~~~~
Muharaba is the story of Alishba , an indian muslim girl who came to a foreign land with lots of dreams and aspirations. She falls in love with Zayn, a pakistani unaware of what was waiting for her.
Muharaba is a story of the self discovery of a young girl who grew up in a conjusted society , witnessing gruesome things which were normalized .The journey of Alishbha from the faint little girl to a successful women is an inspiration for every women despite the age, race or religious difference. This is every women's story. It also focuses on many issues like domestic violence, misogyny and mental health that needs to be addressed in a broader light.Even thought the story deals with heavy subject, the narration is simple and smooth.I could feel the emotions of Alishba and that was only possible because of the beautiful narration.
To conclude i would like to say that, it is a bold attempt of the author to expose the atrocities of society to the world through a character like Alishba whom everyone can relate to.This is a must read.

Amazing story that portrayed realistic story. Women are expected to be submitted to their husband after their marriage or to their fathers before marriage. The story surely started with a different atmosphere and twisted in a different way. It was amazing to follow many women's life story in just three chapters. I loved it.

This was a beautiful story. Honestly, it took my breath. It was so frighteningly true. And the protagonist was just amazing. I loved how strong Alishba was despite all the bad things happening to her and she was brave enough to get a divorce and start a new life as an independent and successful woman. I have nothing to say to the grammar, it was perfect and your writing style is also astounding. I really loved this story.
