Chongyun went out to go look for Xingqiu, he expected him to be sitting somewhere with a book in his hands but he didn't see him in the spot he was always in. He got confused so he went to ask Xiangling if she knows where Xingqiu is. He started to walk to Wanmin Restaurant and as usual, he saw her experimenting with new ingredients.

" Hey there Xiangling " He went in and got greeted with a wide yet sad looking smile

" Hi there Chongyun! Is there anything I can help you with? " She said while trying to maintain a happy and positive look

" I do need some help, do you know where Xingqiu went? I didn't see him on our usual place " He asked as he saw Xiangling's happy look die on her face, he was confused then Xiangling hugged him

" He,,, he moved to pursue his dreams, I thought you knew this since you guys are close friends " the young chef said while tearing up. Chongyun couldn't say anything, they had a promise, a promise to tell eachother anything even if it's something that can hurt one of them but why didn't he tell him

" I'm sorry but please let go, I need to,,, process this sorry " Chongyun said as Xiangling stops hugging him

" Always know I'm here for you, alright? " Xiangling said as he saw the light blue haired boy nodded as he went out of the Wanmin Restaurant

He started to make his way to quiet place where he can only hear his thoughts, he saw a boy sitting beside a tree with a floating companion. He sighed as he got the boy's attention. He can see the latter go close to him

" Uhm, are you Chongyun? " The blond braided boy asked as he looked at him confused and a bit startled

" How do you know my name? " Chongyun asked as he stepped back a bit

" Ah! I'm sorry if I startled you, I just needed to give you a letter that Xingqiu gave me " He said as he smiled abit. Chongyun immediately stretched his arms, waiting for the blonde boy to hand him the letter

" Oh, here you go " He said as he gave the letter to Chongyun. He opened the letter when he saw the blond boy go back to the tree

Dear Chongyun,

I apologize for not telling you this in person but I do not wish to see you sad. I have to pursue a dream that I know you would support as you've told me that I have so much potential on this category which was writing. I'm sorry this is how we will say our goodbyes but I promise that one day, we will be reunited as we will never be separated my dear yunyun.

He sighed, not wanting to cry on the spot. He feels hurt but so proud of Xingqiu. He's always seen him writing and working hard on every page of his book. His reaction on getting rejected hurted him and he swore to protect him with all of his heart but how can we protect him when he is out of reach

He putted the letter back to the envelope and started walking to the blonde boy, the latter looked at him as he sat down beside him

" How do you know him? " Chongyun asked as he looked at the ground

" Him? " He can sense the confusion of the blonde

" Xingqiu " He said, even saying his name hurts, it's not like he died but why does it hurt so much?

" Oh! We met when I was trying to find a certain book " The blonde smiled as he started to tell him their adventure

Chongyun looked at him, it reminds him of how Xingqiu would ramble about his books, how he could smile while talking about his ideas and how he laughed at his own jokes

" Hey, are you okay? " The blonde asked, he didn't realized he was tearing up

" Oh uhm yeah don't worry, what's your name? " He asked as he wiped his tears

" I'm so sorry for rambling but I'm Aether " Aether smiled

" You smile just like him " Chongyun said as he saw Aether's expression change

" Who? " Aether asked, getting a hurt chuckle

" Xingqiu " Chongyun said, as he started to tear up more, he sighed as he looked at Aether's expression change again

" The way you smile and ramble even if it's not the same topic, you remind me so much of him and it's maybe because I'm still a bit hurt on this situation " He started to cry even more then he felt a warmth of a person

" I'm so sorry " Aether said as he hugged the hurt bean

" It's not your fault, it's just a bit too much right now " Chongyun said as he accepted the hug

" You know, this is nice,, it reminds me on how I used to comfort my little sister when she's sad " Aether said as he remembered memories of him and his sister before they got separated

" We both are grieving over someone who is far away from us huh " Chongyun said as he wiped his tears and Aether letting go of him

" I guess so but hey don't be too down, he'll come back soon, he isn't the guy to leave someone he cares about " Aether smiled as he heard Chongyun sigh

" I know, I'm just a bit hurt that he didn't tell me this in person but told Xiangling this in person " He sighed as Aether's expression dropped

" He must have a good reason why he did that " Aether assured Chongyun

" I know, it was stated in the letter " Chongyun sighed as he stood up

" Feel free to visit me again, I'll be here tomorrow " Chongyun said as Aether nodded

" With that said, I'm off now, enjoy your stay in Liyue " Chongyun said as he walked away from the boy. He is still hurt but in his heart, Xingqiu's happiness matters more than his own

" Stay safe please " Chongyun said as he looked up at the sky, it already turned dark but it was so beautiful. The stars looked beautiful, he wished Xingqiu was beside him, he wished to hug him again, he wished to be beside him, to endure his pranks, to help him when he's in trouble but he couldn't do those. Not until he comes back. He sighed as the loneliness consumed him.

It's the feeling he hasn't felt for years since Xingqiu came to his life. But all good things come to an end and for now this is the end of the company and comfort the book loving boy who was always there for him on his darkest times
