Chapter 1- Westport

"What Lies Beneath. Forgotten. And now awakening. Hungry for the world above."

Magic has always existed in our world, remaining hidden between decades, legend has spoken in small whispers that it was alive and well accepted in the Middle Ages, until a group of anti magic humans decided to ban it and force it to hide, forcing kids with special abilities to hide what they really are.

That lasted for thousands of years, until 2020 when magic was unleashed in an apocalyptic war that almost brought Earth to it's end, until an large group of adults had managed to stop an overpowered demon from devouring the planet itself. After the year of 2020, the governments of the world had decided it was acceptable to allow magic to seep back into the world, as long as there were many heroes, as they called them, attending special schools and honing their ability to protect the people.

For ten years the world worked fine knowing there were stronger heroes to protect them. But by 2030, as one may expect, the governments got greedy. They forced school admissions to be costly and expensive, to the point only the best, and richest could attend the academies, leaving anyone who couldn't afford it dry and left without anyone to help them. The heroes begun wishing magic and powers were hidden again, left away from the government taking advantage.

Westport Academy, located in Australia, on the coast of the state of Queensland was no different, once for anyone wanting to learn how to control magic, and their powers, attending classes on protection, defence, and assaults. Only five years ago, it changed because of the Australian government getting a hand on it. Only parents with money could afford the best for their kids, and as expected, they were snobby, elitist, and just as bad as those in private schools. The Academy stood on a small cliff near the ocean allowing a beautiful view of the water below, it was an ancient marble style castle with long cream white pillars, gold strips coiled around it like an snake, reaching the top one could see glowing purple orbs with a white centre. It was meant to be the security camera, taking watch of anything that might be dangerous and come close, the flaw in the technology that it ignored students coming in after dark.

The white marble brick walls were magic resistant, with matching large gates that surrounded the whole acres, it was a large property with it's own private beach, and the vast blue ocean behind the Academy.

As the sun was setting;  and it got later, most of it's students and staff had gone home, only the most committed ones stayed after dark, and many didn't like it. There were rumours of strange happenings when it got dark, from ghosts appearing out of nowhere, to big large footprints drenched in blood leading into the beach. And an whole undercity below the castle, of unknown origins.

Four of it's senior students decided to sneak into the gates using their magic to do so. "I got the gate!" an tall blond girl with blue eyes and rosy white cheeks had spoken towards her friends, sounding drunk and carrying a bottle of beer in her hand. She swirled her other hand in the air forcing the bars of the gate to disappear, allowing her to walk through.

"Brianna! Oh god this is so exciting, are we really going try and find the Undercity?" the brunette girl with blue streaks through her ponytail hair had spoken, all four were around the age of seventeen, each looked impossibly attractive with fancy and rich styled clothing.

"Of course, it's only meant to be the most haunted place of the castle," Brianna spoke in a spooky tone, waving her hands in the air, laughing before taking a long sip of her beer.

"Come on Sweety! You can do this," the tall male with white skin and blonde hair had declared, picking up the woman before she could protest.

"Archie!" the brunette named Sweety scolded him, lightly hitting him as the man jumped over the small ledge and onto the other ground, leaving another man with red hair and round green eyes standing on the other side.
