We had almost made it back to the school and by that time he had started shivering from the cold. The sun had set a few minutes ago and it was starting to get chilly out.
The cold never bothered me. Heat however made me feel sick.Matt: h-hey snow..?
"Yes?" I replied
Matt: I-I'm new to this school... I-I don't even know what my dorm is..
If your new why were you sneaking through the grass?
Matt: some k-kids told me there was a l-lake out here... -he rubbed his nape sheepishly-
Oh the lake? It's not far from the school. You can see it from the dorms.
Matt: can you.. show me around?
Me? Sure I guess I could take you for a little tour.We had reached the door to the school. I led him into the dorm area nearby.
Each dorm is a group. Ghosts and creatures like that are at the attic floor and more safer less dangerous creatures are at the bottoms. Like fairies.
He nodded slowly as if he understood. We would be on the third floor.
Matt: how many floors are there?
Four floors in total.
Matt nodded but he seemed distracted by something in the corner.
"Matt?"
Matt: o-oh yeah yeah cool... cool. Listen it's late can you s-show me to my room..?
"Room?" I chuckled.
We don't have rooms here.
Matt: w-what?!
Yep. This place used to be an old insane asylum. The dorms are just long halls filled with beds. You pick a bed and you claim it. That's it.
Matt: w-what about bathrooms and showers?!
We have three showers and four toilets on each floor.
Matt: b-but I need privacy!I chuckled as I walked upstairs to the dorms. I plopped onto a bed with slightly red stained sheets.
Matt: u-uhm... what's that red stuff on your bed-?
Oh that? Blood.
Matt: b... blood-? He started to look pale.
It's not mine it's rabbits blood. They don't have that good of food here.Matt started to look like he was about to faint.
H-hey what's with that face?
Matt: I-I can't stand b-blood. Or meat...
Your vegetarian?
-Matt nodded slowly-
That's strange. Most kids that come to this school are major meat eaters. Even the fairies!
Matt: I've n-never liked meat. -he yawned- so I just pick a bed..?
Yep. Take whatever bed dosent have something under it.
Matt: huh-?
We mark our beds by putting whatever few items we own under it. Mine has a few clothes and an old box.
Matt: what's in the box?
"Nothing." I said with a stern face.Matt nodded and took a step back before finding a bed only a few feet away.
"Matt: ugh... this thing looks horrid..." he pointed to the stain soaked mattress.
Yeah you need to provide your own sheets and blankets here.
Matt: w-what!? All I have is my backpack and clothes! I thought the school would have that at least!?
Why didn't your parents prepare you?
Matt: p-... parents..? Well... -he rubbed his nape once again- I... I can't remember them...What do you mean?
Matt: two days ago I woke up with a major headache a mile away from the school... I only had my backpack next to me... I remember I had a sister.. mom.. and dad.. but I can't remember what they looked like!!I sat there puzzled before leaning back in my bed.
"Well here. I can offer you something I guess.."
I tossed my pillow over to him and my only blanket.
"We can trade the blanket some nights."
Matt's eyes lit up with a slight happiness.
I stared into his eyes for a second before looking away out the window, he also looked away before sitting on the bed.I'm going to get a snack.
Matt: the cafeteria is open at this time of night?
I never said I was going to the cafeteria.Matt sat there puzzled before realizing what he had meant.
Matt: O-oh.. have fun..-
I nodded before standing up and walking outside the dorm.Matt took a peek out the window watching be walk into the freshly fallen snow.
Matt: ugh.. what's this strange feeling..? -he whispered to himself-
