Keeley had been there for years. Even when Maddie had cried at nothing, Keeley had comforted her. When she needed a break from her house, she went to Keeley's. But as she looked around frantically, Maddie could no longer see her one friend.
Hands shoved her and someone pushed a pacifier into her mouth roughly. The world started to spin. Nausea blossomed in her stomach. A crushing tightness squeezed her chest.
"You're only faking it to get out of school"
Her mother's voice echoed through her head.
"I know you don't really feel sick."
But the sickness in Maddie's stomach was real enough, and the growing urge to cry was definitely not fake.
Hands squeezed Maddie's chest and pulled, leaving dark purple bruises. It was the first time her private areas had ever been touched and she didn't like it.
"Sl**."
Maddie's eyes flew open and she gasped in breaths of cold air. She hated when she relived her past.
"Maddie!"
Hands scooped her up gently and carried her to the nurse's office. To Momma.
