Chapter 24: Divinity's Traces (It Dawns Again)

SASKIA'S POV

I GOT NERVOUS when I saw those creatures approaching us from afar. Three were in front of us, and another group was standing behind them.

They kept multiplying, but I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. I bet it's because of the rocky pebbles combined on the walls underground, making them look like they're made of large pebbles. But in truth, they're only present in appearance when you stare at it in a long run.

It's like an illusion.

"H-how did we end up here? Nasaan sila Saphire? Sila Seile? Nakita mo ba sila?"

I even waited for the impact to happen, but it never came... it's like I got transported here out of nowhere. Umangat ang tingin ko sa itaas, kung saan kami nanggaling kanina. Ngunit wala na ang grupo ng dagim na pumapalibot doon. Purong bato na lamang ang naroon. But how did I end up in this strange place? Us? Or is this some kind of another illusion?

He declined his head.

"This place is a trap." Hindi nawala ang tingin nito sa mga kakaibang nilalang na patuloy na lumalapit sa 'min.

Nilapag na niya ako sa ground. Umupo naman ako at umikot upang humarap sa mga iyon. They kept striding closer, but slowly, not to mention that they were also huge. Double of human size I'd say.

"Something cornered us earlier."

"Something?"

Hindi siya umimik.

Bigla siyang tumayo, sumunod naman ako.

Out of reflexes, we both looked up when we heard a crack from above. We quickly jumped backward in surprise when another creature, made of stone, fell from there. The impact caused us to shield our eyes with our arms as we struggled to step back, it destroyed the ground below us.

We got even more startled as it towered in front of us. It was really massive!

"What are these..."

"Golems," sinuri niya ang paligid namin na ngayo'y napalibutan na ng mga nilalang na iyon. "We have to escape this place first."

I reluctantly nodded at him. We turned around to find a way to escape, but instead, doom greeted us with a bitter pill to swallow.

We got cornered!

I can see the struggle in his facial expression as he observed it, I can tell that he's now cursing internally. Napansin ko rin ang paggalaw ng kamay nito na nakapatong ngayon sa hilt ng weapon niya, habang nakalagay iyon sa gilid na bahagi niya.

Another one fell on top of us, its arms suddenly aimed to crush us into the ground. Instinctively, I raised both my hands to protect us from it, but someone suddenly wrapped his arms around my stomach to carry me away from there. I clung tightly to his shoulders as he continued to run, pulling me farther from danger.
