Unreachable Silence

CHAPTER 1

I turned my head to the man who made the woman in front of me froze.

He is a very handsome and manly man despite of the lines visible in his face. He is not that old, mukhang nasa 30s pa ito. He seems to be familiar tho, he looked just like the man on the photo that Tito Shen showed me a while ago.

He grabbed me by my arm and hid me behind his back, saka ko lang napansin ang mga kasama nitong mga bodyguards na ngayon ay nasa likuran ko na.

The old hag turned her blazing eyes to the man holding me.

"And who are you?!"

The man in front of me ignored the question and maintained his pokerface.

"So you are Mel's sister and you got the guts to make a scene right in front of her wake?" The man shot back a statement as cold as ice.

"Shut up, and don't ignore my question! Who the hell are you?" The old hag repeated with a tone.

"Glen Arsuelo, and please low down your voice, learn to respect your sisters wake, have some manners." Glen, kapangalan ng matalik na kaibigan ni tita.

Wait, so this was tita Mel's bestfriend, kaya pala familiar din siya.

The woman was taken a back by the man's reply. She gulped and tried to bring herself together.

"Stay out of our matter mister and give me that bitch back" this woman just never learn how to give up.

"I'm sorry but I am taking custody of Ven, papabayaan nyo lang naman rin siya diba?" I froze on my feet

Did...he...know?

I can feel my tears streaming down my cheeks. Huh I thought I already ran out of it.

I wiped away the tears right away, it doesn't deserve my tears.

The woman in front of us was silent for a second, she rolled her eyes and

"Fine, no one wants to be near with that girl besides, she only bring misfortunes to everyone."

I clenched my fist and bite my lips hard.

"You are a horrible mother" I can hear this mans clenched teeth.

Before pa man magkainitan ay binaklas ko ang hawak sa akin ng lalaking nagngangalang Glen at pumagitna sa kanila.

"Tama na po, wag kayo dito mag away, respetohin nyo po si Tita Mel" I stated especially at the womans face.

"Wag mokong mautus utusan bata ka, ikaw ang walang respeto." sinabunutan nito ang buhok ko pero agad naman itong tinigilan ng lalaki kanina. He grabbed my arm once again and hid me behind his back.

"Enough with the abuse, kundi kakasuhan kita." My eyes widened at his remark.

"Kakasuhan? Eh do you have any evidence?" The woman confidentally asked, raising a brow.

"Oh yes we do, simula pa nga noong sinampal mo ang bata" This man, Glen smirked and pointed at one of the bodyguards  who's holding a phone and whose camera is facing us.

I looked back curious of the woman's reaction only to see her face as red as tomato beacuse of rage.

She angrily pointed her finger on me, and finally stormed out of the house wordless.

I was still shocked of what happened and having a hard time processing what the hell is happening.

The man turned to me and stared at my face.

"I'm sorry if you have to witness that, you're Ven right? I'm Glen Arsuelo, I am a childhood friend of your Tita Mel, you can call me Tito Glen."

I nodded and accepted the hand he offered.

"I'm really sorry if I had to go that far, I can't just take the guts of that woman, especially when I saw her hitting you." He sincerely apologized.

"It's ok Tito, salamat nga pala."

Tito Glen patted my head and smiled. He turned his back at me and headed to Tita Mel's coffin. He stared at her face and rub the glass separating them. I was taken a back to see tears falling to the coffin. I looked at his face and felt sorry when I see pain in his eyes.

My tears was somewhat triggered by his and also starts falling down my cheeks.

"Sorry, sorry po talaga, kasalanan ko to eh, ako sana ang nandyan" I cried like a baby

"Sshhhh, hush Ven, it's fine, I heard the story, hindi mo kasalanan ok? Sadyang panahon na talaga ng tita mo, I can't tell you to feel thankful na buhay ka kasi alam kong masakit but try to appreciate the chance granted by your Tita Mel for you, she let you live, so live the life she gave you ok?" Tito hugged me and rub my back.

I nod and nod at his chest while I am controlling my sobs.

Tito Glen and I decided to take a seat and had a small talk, he told me a quick story of him and Tita Mel.

"I still can't believe this happened." Tito heaved a sigh.

"Buti naman nakayanan mo asikasuhin ang lahat ng ito ng ikaw lang?" Tito asked

I smiled bitterly

"It's not that easy, I am hurting but I managed to process all this, for her sake, besides I can't just mourn all day."

"You sure grew up great, you're as independent and reliable as Mel, she sure took good care of you."

"Tita Mel is like a mother to me, I love her so much, I always will."

We both looked at each other and smiled.
