There was no doubt in the fact that Fred was clueless. Yes, him and his twin brother had made quite an impression at Hogwarts. Tall, confident, charming, good family, These traits making them one of the most loved people to grace the ancient walls. But when it came to you, he was truly and utterly clueless.
It was your 6th year and coming back to Hogwarts marks sic years of friendship with you. The twins met you when you got sorted in Gryffindor just like them. You were muggle-born and sitting alone at the end of the table at dinner, trying to chime in on the conversation happening around you. Despite your efforts, you ended up giving up until the twins came over and started a conversation.
Fred couldn't wrap his head around the fact that even after all these years of friendship, he still didn't have a clue about how to show or let his feelings be known to you. He knew himself what he liked. He did love physical contact but that was pretty obvious to anyone who met the twins. All the Weasleys were affectionate that way. But he also really liked symbols of feelings, gifts if you will. Something to hold when you are not there.
He would never tell anyone that thought. George would only make fun of him and Lee would run the school telling people as well. But at least he knew what he liked. Looking at you, his mind goes blank. He doubts even Trewlawny could predict what you like because you were completely unique, distinct, separate from the rest.
He knew your basic interests. Like quidditch, astrology, sketching, etc. You also had a huge liking for music as well. He once found you alone, in an empty classroom singing to yourself whilst playing the guitar. He didn't think it was you at first until you turned around asking him what he was doing. Fred was so entranced by you that he didn't even notice you turn around.
You spent the whole night talking about how nobody saw this part of you. He remembers the butterflies he got when you said "Nobody was deserving of seeing it, until now". Fred promised to not tell anyone about it which only made him happier that you could trust him like that.
Now Fred was walking back to the dormitories with George after another long day of classes.
"I just don't understand Fred, you have been pining over the girl for years! Make a move already! It's not like she will say no" George exclaimed making Fred snap his head towards him.
"Wait, has she said something to you?" Fred asked, eagerness in his voice.
"No, but she doesn't have to!" Fred sighed. "How blind are you? It's incredibly clear you both have feelings for each other so take this as your sign from me, please" George begs looking into Fred's eyes.
Fred pushes him away. "Look, her birthday is in three days, Why not make your "romantic gesture" then?" George chuckles making Fred nudge him again.
"Because I don't know what to do. She is a mystery you know? I can't and won't mess this up" Fred said sternly making George laugh silently at how blind his brother is. Just as he said this they passed the library, seeing Hermione absorbing herself in a book.
George saw Hermione and nudged his brother. "Ask Hermione, Y/N tells her everything. If anyone can give you advice it's her" They both stopped observing the fuzzy-haired girl.
