"What was it like?"

A long pause stretches out between us, the air thick with anticipation. I struggle to find the words, they're all lodged in my throat like sour candy. What was it like? The answer is there, I grasp at it with metaphorical fingers; I sort out the information, the stories and people residing within the mess of my memory. It has become fuzzy, the memories that were once so clear and bright in my conscience now almost unreachable, forgotten due to new stresses, friendships and stories.

But nevertheless, I have been asked to tell the story, and so I must find the words, the secrets and drama to tell. I have always loved storytelling, I find myself getting carried away when a good story is flowing. The creativity pouring out in a golden shower, unstoppable and precious.

Perhaps that is why they loved me, because I was so good at telling a story, so good at leading a fantasy, so likeable and mouldable that they could change me into whatever they pleased. I was naïve then, so young and new to the world, they took their chance and jumped on me, their new project. They were wild animals ravenous for another bite dressed and disguised in smart uniforms, with pearly teeth and an attitude to match.

But I clear my head and ready myself, there is a story to be told, and after all, that is what I am good at.

"It was a dream" I reply finally.
