Obb felt like he had won. The courtroom was like a chessboard. Obb had Rik's king in check.
"I don't have to say anything," said Rik as he lifted up his head. "You claim that I was at the scene because I said two mere words. But where is your evidence?"
The king got away.
Miyuki opened her mouth: "Irken Obb-"
"Irken Defense Obb, you accuse Irken Prosecutor Ned of theft. Do you have any evidence?" asked the Control Brains.
To Obb, it sounded like an order. He swiped the courtroom communicator and looked at the picture and the receipt. Nothing.
"We could check the security footage," Obb suggested hopefully.
Rik chuckled.
"Sorry, I requested that the footage to be deleted," denied Rik. "It really takes up the space in the database."
Obb couldn't believe his antennas.
"Wh-whuh?"
Now Rik had Obb in check.
With his head hurting, Obb looked around the courtroom. Spork was fiddling with his claws. Rik was smirking. Chum was standing still. Ned was releasing his claws from his stretched antennas.
"Enough," said Ned seriously. "It's no use... I stole the commander's doughnut."
Obb's eyes went wide.
"No! You didn't do it!" cried Obb.
"Thanks for defending me up until now, Irken Obb," said Ned. "I will gladly accept any punishment..."
"No, you're innocent!"
"...I am a petty thief and I shall surrender - "
"Objection!"
Two pair of metal boots clinked and clanked against the floor.
"An Irken surrendering?" questioned Commander Chum. "I trained you better than that Soon-to-be Invader Ned."
Ned gasped in sudden. Chum stomped his right boot.
CLANK!
"Prosecutor Rik, you were there, outside my office," testified Chum. "You came towards me and told me there's an urgent meeting. When I left, what did you do?"
"I left obviously," claimed Rik.
"Objection!" shouted Obb. "Then how do you explain the fact that you know the doughnut has pink glaze on it?"
"Lucky guess? Superior brain power?" ranted Rik.
"That doesn't fly here in Judgementia," said Obb. "Admit it, you ate the commander's doughnut because you couldn't resist. You then decided to blame it on Ned, taken the picture out of context and deleted the rest of the footage. Prosecutor Rik, you're the thief."
Rik chuckled in response. Slowly, he was laughing loudly like a lunatic. His PAK began to spark. Obb swore he felt the courtroom shaking as Rik's laughter thundered across. His PAK glitch, shutting him down and he collapsed behind the table with a thud.
The courtroom went back into its former silence once more.
"This is certainly an interesting trial," boomed the Control Brains.
Miyuki nodded in agreement.
"We are ready to hand down the verdict. We find the defendant, Soon-to-be-Invader Ned..."
