Awkward Apology

Will's Pov

Oh gods, it makes sense now! Of course he wouldn't hug me, he has a girlfriend. What in Hades is wrong with you Solace, he probably isn't even gay! The rumours are just RUMOURS! 

The sound of someone's feet slapping against the pavement pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned around to see an out of breath Nico running after me. I stopped walking to allow him to catch up. When he did it took him quite a while to catch his breath.

"What's up Ghost King?"

Nico glared at me through his fringe then sheepishly looked down again.

"Nico? Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine. I just," he hesitated "never mind." 

"You gotta tell me now. I won't stop bugging you until you tell me."

"But it's stupid."

"Nothing you say Death Boy is stupid."

He didn't even flinch at the nickname. I fact, I think he almost smiled.

"I just... I just wanted to say sorry." He looked at the floor again. I didn't know what he was on about.

"Sorry about what?"

"See this is just stupid it doesn't matter." He looked even more awkward than usual. He was fiddling with his jumpers sleeves.

"It's probably not as stupid as you think. Now come on just TELL me!"

"I'm sorry I hugged Lydia. I mean I'm not going out with Lydia. I'm not... I'm not straight. I dunno it's stupid." He hung his head and started to walk away.

"Wait up Death Boy." I said grabbing his hand. To my surprise he didn't pull his hand away so I pulled him closer to me. He blushed but still didn't pull away. 

"It's not stupid Nico, trust me. Nothing you can say will ever be stupid." 

Nico looked a bit uncomfortable then he smiled slyly "Nothing I say is stupid?"

"With a few exceptions." I explained, "Like when you are moping around like "nobody likes me" "I'm all alone" cus I'm always here for you death boy." I cringed at how cheesy that sounded but it made Nico smile. Not one of his sly mischievous smiles or his photo smile. He smiled a real proper smile that made his eyes twinkle.

"Your eyes look beautiful when you smile." Nico frowned, "shut up Will!"

"Never!"

He laughed then looked down and realised that we were still holding hands. He blushed again and pulled his hand away. I pretended not to notice even though I was a little disappointed. 

"Hey Death Boy have you good a room on campus?" 

"Yeah it's in block 9 on the top floor. Why?" He looked a little confused as to why I was asking.

"Great," I replied cheerfully,"I'm on the floor below you."

Nico still looked confused so I decided to make it as obvious as possible. I offered him my arm and said in my best British accent "May I walk you to your chambers." Nico blushed again, this had to be setting some record for the amount of times blushed within an hour, and mumbled some kind of affirmative grunt. I laughed at how awkward he was and set if toward block 9.

As we walked we talked, not about anything in particular just any topic I was sure he would have an opinion on. I couldn't bare the silences when Nico wasn't talking, his voice was so soft. If melted chocolate had a sound it would be his voice. I enjoyed listening to him talk and get really worked up about stuff. It showed who really was and I know it sounds stalkery but I REALLY wanted to get to know him properly. He was so interesting.

Before I knew it we had reached Nico's room. As he turned to get his key out of his bag I noticed that we were holding hands. I didn't remember when I took his hand but somewhere along the journey I must have. Nico must have noticed at the same time as he pulled his hand away and looked down. I couldn't see his face but I'll bet you anything he was blushing.

"Night Will. See you tomorrow." He looked awkward like he wasn't quite sure what to do. So I gave him a giant bear hug and said "Night Ghost King see you in the morning." Nico at first stiffened in the hug but then he relaxed and hugged me back.

"See you Will." He let himself into his room and shut the door behind him.
