This is my proper first story I am actually gonna upload on. And no I am not gonna procrastinate ;X Since I absolutely love quotes, whatever it is, I will be sharing one with you every chapter.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”  - Jane Eyre

Chapter one

Saphire's point of view:

I walk towards the reception of this huge building. My mum is on the right side of me, her heels are clicking and clacking along, and her high-pitched voice is heard as she talks on the phone. I do not see why she is so calm; it is my first day of this huge college. My insides are in knots whilst my mother is chatting away.

After dragging along three suitcases, and listening to my mother’s never-ending list of expectations, we finally make it to the reception of Leyton High. I remain silent like my mother told me to before she started driving. My mother probably thinks I would spoil my chance of getting into this college.

"This is my daughter Saphire Blake and she is new here. She applied for a room on campus so we came to collect the key. You told us on the phone, you had a room?" Trust my mother to change her true self as quick as a flash.

The woman with tiny framed glasses, who seemed to be in her 40’s, is supposedly Madame Garnett. She replied back almost instantaneously, whilst looking at her screen.

"Erm, we have a room but it will not be your own room, I am afraid she will have to share." She replied monotonously as if she did not care for the answer. I was not even expecting an available room for me, but to think everyone else is on their own and I get to have a roommate makes me feel kind of special. This school is amazing, but I just wish the teachers are the same because the first teacher I have met kind of gave me the wrong first impression.

Before I could inquire further, my mother nudged me and said in her squeaky, deafening tone, "Yeah that's fine. I have places to be now, so can I go? I think my daughter’s room is sorted now."

She did not even wait for an answer. She quickly hugged me, telling me to phone her as soon as I got my room. Sometimes I wished I could just have a normal mother that actually cared for her daughter but I guess things will never be the same after that incident.

The receptionist showed me to my room and gave me my key. She told me never to lose it otherwise I would have to pay double the amount of my room; so much for nice teachers. I unlocked the door and went into the room where I would have to spend half of my life. The room was tiny. It barely fit one person, let alone two people to share a dorm. Now I get why students do not share rooms. The beds were on opposite ends of the room, and there was a tiny wardrobe for both of us. My room back home was huge compared to this, but I must never compare two completely different things like my mother says. I would prefer my old room back any day.

After walking around the claustrophobic room and just looking around, I started unpacking the mass amount of items I brought with me. Whilst unpacking, I thought back to what she had said about me sharing a room. Suddenly, my head was filled to the brim of different types of roommates I could or would have.

Is it a girl or boy? Wait, I am pretty sure you cannot share rooms with a boy? I hope she is intelligent and can help me when I am stuck in my studies. I could have at least checked on the leaflet, but it was not like I knew I was actually coming here till about yesterday, when my mother came into my room and started throwing my things into a suitcase. I had to ask her politely about four times before she answered rather rudely. She was the one who picked my college. I practically had no say, but my mother said she always wanted me to do well, and she always said she knew me better than myself. As soon as she told me, I started researching the whereabouts and the lessons they offered and general knowledge. I had to sleep at 8:00 pm so there was not much time.

My thoughts about the mystery roommate come to a sudden halt as I hear the door creaking open. This is the moment I find out the mystery person.

Thank the Lord! I am finally put out of my painful misery.
