"Welcome!"

God, I love the smell of caffeine. Something that I desperately need. Ironic enough how I work in a coffee shop but can't even drink it.

The raspy voice spoke looking up at the menu, "Hey."

The man was way taller than me,  I could smell the scantiest hint of cologne escaping from his coat, his cologne wasn't disgusting like Axe or anything but I actually really liked it.

"So what can I get you?" I looked up at him.

He tilted his head a little lower to attempt making eye contact, "I don't know actually, what would you recommend? I'm new to the coffee scene and all."

"I recommend the Dragon drink, it's really good if you are into fruity drinks with pomegranate in it. If you want caffeine, I've heard a lot of people talk about the Vanilla Sweet Cold Brew."

"Cold coffee is so nasty. I'll take a regular black coffee," he toyed with his silver rings, his hands looking like they were freezing.

His hands were muscular with veins slightly popping out, with small tattoos on the inside web of his hand and the backside of his wrist.

I guess he noticed I was looking at them, so he slowly put his hands in his pocket.

"I'll have it right out then," putting the ticket on the rack behind me.

When I turned back around the line, he was gone. No trace of him anywhere. I was hoping he'd be back before the coffee was done. He never showed so I ended up giving it to my co-worker, Naiomi. After a long night of work, I drove home putting my keys on the ottoman. In a few hours I had a meeting with my boss, I was getting promoted. I work two jobs; as a writer at day, and a coffee shop employee at night. I wasn't tight on money, but I've always learned that hard work pays off. I spent the last 3 hours of my time watching Jane the Virgin before I dozed off.

                                                                                       -

When I arrived, his office was a bit empty, like it'd been cleaned out.

"I'm actually not the head of this company anymore, it's some new dude. I met him, and he's great. He bought into the position. Crazy isn't it? Since you're being promoted, " he sighed," you'll be his assistant, not a writer anymore."

"But-" I tried to interrupt.

"You can still write and everything part-time, but you'll just be firing people and hiring people you know?"

"When do I meet him? I need to speak with him now."

"I'm the boss for today so you'll take it up with me. Mr. Kim will take over my position tomorrow."

He rose from his chair," It was nice working with you sweetheart."

"I-," you struggled to navigate the words to speak.

He quickly grabbed his things and opened the door for you to exit the office," You'll love him I swear."

I left the room, a bit bummed my boss wasn't exactly my boss any more. I wonder who it is? Who could have bought out the mf position? I laughed a little. I ended up going home to continue looking for new jobs just in case I didn't like being an assistant. Considering he bought out the damn position, I imagine he has a lot of money.
