"Two black coffees," his horse voice speaks.

I vaguely smiled, "I'll have that right out."

In the corner of my eye, I could see Naiomi flattening out her apron. She came out with his drinks, with a little post-it note at the bottom. I picked it up before giving it to him, ' xxx-xxx-xxxx'. There was no way Naiomi was giving my boss her number. He noticed the note immediately and gave a crooked smile, showing that he was uncomfortable.

Just in case Naiomi gave him my number instead of hers, I needed to make it clear that I wasn't coming on to him. I could get fired if he doesn't feel the same way.

                                                                                          -

"J-just so you know," I added a little hop to my step to try to catch up," I had no idea that she was going to give you my number," I looked up to see he wasn't buying it, "respectfully."

He pushed the documents and files towards me, not even making sure I got a hold of them.

" I need these faxed. Can you do that?"

"Yes, I can do that," I snapped back.

He paced into his office, trying to shut the door behind him. As his 'assistant', I feel like I have the right to come and go when I'd like. When I walked in, the workspace smelt a mixture of coffee and cigarettes.

"You are coming to this meeting I've planned, we need to secure a deal with another writer. The party is going to be at her house, she's invited me so you have to clean up nice. She isn't sure if she wants to pursue writing," he peeked from his paperwork and whispered," like you."

I scoffed, "What makes you think I'm confused about my ambition to be a writer? Have you even read what I've written?"

"No ma'am I have not."

"When I bring it tomorrow, you'll reconsider."

He didn't answer me for a moment, as if he was thinking what would happen if my writing would have turned out good. He sipped the piping hot coffee he had on the black tabletop.

"Let's bet on it," he affirmed in a coincided manner.

"I- um sure okay, what are we betting on?"

" So if I won, I'd say something like, 'you have to follow my every order, without question.'"

"You have to find another assistant to take my place and I'll have my position as an employee again-" I trailed, not sure where this would lead.

"I'll tell you my part of the deal when I win. I am one hundred percent positive my writing is better."

"When I win?" I mocked.

"Yes, when I win," he cracked a smile.

When he realized he was breaking his character, he straightened out his tie and stood.

"I need those faxed in 10, then we head to the meeting. Change your clothes to something a bit more, feminine," he cleared his throat.

After all, I did come to work every day with eye bags. After leaving his office for a break, I did just that. Changing into the beige silk dress that I borrowed from Naiomi, I did my makeup really quick, putting on more concealer under my eyes than usual.

                                                                                          -

"Well you clean up nice," he eyed me up and down.

We drove to the party and damn Taehyung, my boss, did clean up nice as well.

The party was held outside, so as far as we know only I and Taehyung were allowed inside to discuss business.

"Welcome pretty and sir," she said, handing us shots.

"Thank you," I smiled, grabbing the drink.

Taehyung grabbed the drink as well, "You must be Ambria."

"Yes, I am, follow me," her flirtatious eyes wandered on the both of us.

The noise from the front yard immediately faded as we walked into the ice-cold house.
